On March 21, Xiaoniu Electric issued a price increase announcement in Jingdong and Taobao flagship stores respectively, saying that due to the sharp increase in the price of raw materials (prices) such as upstream lithium batteries, Xiaoniu Electric will raise the retail guidance price of all lithium battery products on April 1, 2022, with an increase of 200-1000 yuan.

On the specific situation of the price increase and future development plans, the Beijing Business Daily reporter interviewed Maverick Electric, but as of press time, he did not receive a reply.

Positioning at the high end coupled with sharp price increases, the sales of Maverick electric vehicles may be affected.

According to public information, Maverick Electric positions the high-end electric vehicle market, and the average price of Maverick electric products has been maintained at more than 4,000 yuan during 2017-2020. Based on this positioning, Maverick Electric has a certain gap with other brands in sales.

According to data, in 2020, Yadi electric vehicle sales exceeded the target of 10 million, and 13.8 million units were sold in 2021; Emma achieved 9 million sales in 2021; and The sales of Tailing electric vehicles also reached 8 million. In contrast, Maverick Electric, sales in 2021 are only 1.0379 million units.

Xu Xiongjun said that from the perspective of sales alone, Maverick Electric does have a big gap with yadi, Emma and other brands, and the positioning of the high-end market makes it difficult for Maverick electric vehicles to sink the market, especially in fourth- and fifth-tier cities, consumption power is insufficient, and the more high-end cars are more difficult to sell, which makes it difficult for Maverick electric vehicles to achieve rapid growth in sales.

Beijing Business Daily reporter learned from the official website of Xiaoniu Electric that at present, Maverick electric vehicle stores are mainly distributed in first-, second- and third-tier cities.

Maverick Electric seems to be aware of this problem as well. In the past two years, Maverick Electric has also tried to lower the price threshold and launch low-cost models.

In 2019, Maverick Electric launched the relatively affordable GOVA series of products, and the sales volume of the series of products has also achieved rapid growth since its launch. According to the data, in 2019 and 2020, the sales volume of GOVA series products was 22,000 units and 169,000 units, respectively. Among them, sales in 2020 are about 6.68 times that of sales in 2019. At the same time, the proportion of GOVA series products in the company's total sales has also increased significantly, from 5.2% in 2019 to 28%.

In the view of industry insiders, in the past two years affected by the epidemic, the small counties in the sinking market are easier to develop than the first- and second-tier cities, and the electric vehicle market is also constantly promoting the implementation of the sinking market strategy.

It is understood that after breaking through the million sales mark in 2021, Maverick Electric has set a target of breaking through 6 million sales.

During the "3·15" period in 2022, Maverick Electric was named by CCTV. According to CCTV, Maverick electric vehicles can provide decoding devices, so that the product can be accelerated in violation of the law.
