On March 20th, the Beijing Yanjing Eight Absolute Heritage Exhibition and the Special Exhibition of Jade Carving Works of Chinese Arts and Crafts Master Cui Qiming were launched at the Beijing Yanjing Eight Absolute Museum located in the Mokou Wenbao District of Shijingshan District. The special exhibition will last until the end of April.

As the saying goes, "jade is not sought, not a tool", jade carving should be conceived and designed according to the characteristics of each piece of jade, measuring the materials and applying art, turning flaws into yu. More than 30 jade carving works such as "Dunhuang Impression", "Eight Treasure Rui Auspicious", "Frog Sound Ten Miles Out of the Mountain Spring", and "Dongpo Drunken Lying" displayed in this special exhibition are among the finest. The style of the work is solemn, the divine form is both, the spirit is ethereal, and the clever use of beautiful colors highlights the artistic style of jade carving in the Northern School court, showing the exquisite carving skills and the profound Chinese jade cultural heritage.
For example, the work "Impression of Dunhuang", inspired by the Dunhuang Grottoes Statue, the whole piece of jade is divided into two from the middle, retaining the natural beauty of the rough stone. When carving, the internal color change of the jadeite is skillfully used, and the light-colored part of the middle is carved into a pair of Guanyin, which seems to stand in the winding cave of the mountain wall. The yellow part around Guanyin uses beautiful colors to carve flying dancers, holding pipas and dancing, with a light posture and graceful posture.
"People grind jade, jade also grinds people, and jade is also life." Cui Qiming, a master of jade carving in Chinese arts and crafts, introduced that jade carving is one of the oldest carving techniques in China, the most important part of the national intangible cultural heritage of Yanjing, and an important carrier of China's excellent traditional culture. I hope that these works can show you the profound jade carving culture and convey the noble character and national spirit contained in jade carving.
Bai Qun, president of the Beijing Yanjing Eight Absolutes Association and director of the Beijing Yanjing Eight Absolute Museums, said that Cui Qiming inherited the traditional northern court jade carving techniques and at the same time had his own unique style. His works are ingeniously conceived, skillfully crafted, and ingenious, and many of his beautiful and ingenious sculptures are rare treasures and orphans. Cui Qiming has been practicing art for 40 years, and has always adhered to the "craftsman spirit" of a big country that chooses one industry to live all his life, which is very worthy of people's learning.
