In order to pursue the special that is difficult to express with the brush, other tools and materials are used for production, which are some special effects that many contemporary painters are happy to use.

The creation of a work should be based on general pen and ink techniques, and these special production methods should be used appropriately and appropriately, and the role is to assist and supplement the pen and ink techniques. These special techniques have a certain effect on the creation of works with a sense of the times and enrich the expressiveness of freehand flower and bird paintings.

1. Intuofa

According to the pre-designed color, the color is painted on the white cardboard, glass, wood board or plastic board, and then the rice paper is tiled or slightly wrinkled and then spread on the top, and the color is printed and dyed on the paper. If the color is not ideal or the part is not printed, you can also repeat the printing and dyeing, or local re-printing until you are satisfied. Using different materials as the base plate will produce different effects, either virtual or real, or thick or thin, or uniform or mottled. This dyeing method is commonly used to express the texture of the stone, the wrinkles of the thick trunk, the background, etc.

2. Glue dyeing method

Use peach glue or animal glue to write out the image to be expressed on the paper, you can also adjust less ink and color in the glue (the glue should not be too thick), and then dye the color of the adjustment, and cover the image of the glue painting, generally not dyed very uniformly, and there is a slight change in the shade of the overall tone.

Because of the high density of glue, ink or color is not easy to invade, and wherever the glue has been painted, it will leave a different white ground and light color. Dyeing with alum water is also the same as the glue dyeing method, but the traces of the alum color are more obvious, and the contrast is stronger than that of glue dyeing. Staining or alum dyeing is more likely to show frost trees, dew leaves, cold forests, spotted stones, snow scenes, etc.

3. Spray color method

The color spraying method is to use a sprayer or spray pen to spray out a fine mist-like color and form a delicate spotted color map on the screen. You can spray a large area of color blocks, you can also spray small color blocks, you can spray a color, weaken the strong contrast, form a unified tone, you can also spray a variety of colors, so that the tone is richer, the layer change is more subtle. Where there is no need for spray dyeing, it can be covered with paper or other things. Pay special attention to the virtual real treatment of the edges of the obscured part. You can spray the paper on dry paper, you can also wet the paper with water, or you can spray it after you wet it. Through spray dyeing, the painted image can be soft and moist, with a decorative taste. However, if this method is used too much, it will weaken the pen and ink effect and lack freehand, so it should be carefully and appropriately applied.

4. Salt sprinkling method

The salt sprinkling method uses cooked paper or semi-cooked paper, which is the easiest to produce results. Salt is soaked by water, turns from solid to liquid, weighs weight and is excretive. Sprinkling salt is to use its properties to make the ink color washed away in order to change. The specific method is to first use the adjusted ink and color dots to dye the rice paper, take advantage of the wet to sprinkle the coarse grain salt, then can not use the pen to point out the writing, and so the salt slowly dissolves, the ink and color are broken into a variety of spots, with the discharge effect to form a radial spot texture, so that the flat ink color block comes alive, with a sense of movement. Coarse laundry detergent can also be sprinkled. This method is suitable for expressing the mountain forest after the rain, the reflection in the water, the slope stones in the rain, the feather spots of birds, the flowers and leaves in the rain, the trees and stones in the snow, etc.

5. Sticker dyeing method

On rice paper, there is no sticking, just empty paste of thin and thick paper, such as white newspaper, Dowling paper, old newspaper, writing paper, etc., sprinkled, cut into the desired shape, pressed on the rice paper with a heavy object, and then, around it splashed with color or rendered with a pen, the place where it was obscured was left white. Due to the positioning of the sticker first, the painter can boldly sprinkle ink color, and the sticker dyeing is suitable for expressing a rough and large shape, which is not suitable for a more delicate image. Rendering can not be limited by the shape of the sticker, in some places there is more ink, poured into the lower edge of the sticker, forming a natural color change, more vivid and lively. If you paste the sprinkled and cut raw rice paper, sprinkle the color together with the sticker paper, wait until some colors penetrate into the drawing paper, and then peel off the sticker, it will form a natural sticker dyeing texture.

6. Punching method

On the rice paper, first use ink to write and sprinkle, you can also take advantage of the wet to spray water or point water, the amount of water should be appropriate, and then tilt the paper, so that the color flows down the water, forming some unexpected natural texture. If the amount of color is not enough or needs to be enriched and adjusted, you can add the color again, and then spray the appropriate amount of water with a water sprayer to break through the color. When the painter felt that the color punching effect was ideal, he used an electric iron to heat it, or used a hair dryer to fix the color on the paper. The purpose is, first, to hold the shape of the color block and prevent seepage from spreading out; the other is to dry faster and control the degree of drying and wetness, so as to facilitate further operation, according to this procedure can be repeated until the satisfactory effect is achieved. This method is suitable for expressing the water surface after the rain, broken lotus leaves, thick tree vines, and a colorful background.

7. Watermarking method

Fill the pool or basin with water, and then slowly pour the adjusted color or ink into the water, so that the colors are floating on the surface of the water, and then gently stir with a paintbrush or a small stick, and the ink color floating on the surface of the water will appear like a flowing texture. Then lay the rice paper flat on the surface of the water, so that the color on the surface of the water is sucked on the paper, use both sides of the paper with both hands to raise the water surface, lay flat on the felt, in order to stabilize the color effect, cover it with a piece of rice paper, and gently press to suck off the excess water to help shape. After the watermark, you can adjust it slightly while wet or dry. Through this watermark, you can get a water pattern with soft colors and smooth lines, which is suitable for expressing rivers, streams, slope stones with water patterns, and is also commonly used to deal with the blurred and subtle backgrounds in flower and bird paintings.

8. Wrinkled paper method

According to the needs of painting, the rice paper is folded or kneaded, which can be folded into a more favorable direction, can also be kneaded into a variety of directions, can be folded into large folds, can also be kneaded into small wrinkles, the whole paper can be kneaded, can also be partially kneaded, you can also put the rice paper together, while kneading while turning the paper ball, pinch into large and small, different directions of the folds, and then slowly unfold it. Where you need to level out, use your hands to stretch and press for a while, but the strength of the pressure should not be too large, and the time should not be too long, otherwise the wrinkles will be flattened and the effect will be lost. On the wrinkled paper with a brush dyeing, all the raised parts will be colored, and the concave parts are not easy to color, forming a rough wrinkle. At the same time, it can also be combined with hood dyeing to unify colors and increase layers. This method shows rough rocks, old tree trunks, etc. The effect is better.

9. Paper printing method

It is to use a variety of paper dipped in the adjusted color, and print and press on the rice paper to obtain an unexpected color block texture. There are two most commonly used methods.

The first: with paper that is not easy to absorb water or no longer absorbs moisture after treatment, such as cardboard, kraft paper, carton board, white paper, etc., painted with a good color, and then buckled back and printed on the drawing paper, to have light and heavy, you can move on the drawing paper to print, you can also overprint repeatedly, in order to get a unique interesting printing and dyeing effect. In order to prevent the printing pressure from being inaccurate and destroying other images, you can also cover the parts that do not need to be printed and dyed with other paper.

The second kind: use white newspaper, rice paper, kraft paper, etc., knead it into a soft paper ball, the thickness of the wrinkles, according to the requirements of the picture to determine, and then, pinch the paper ball on the porcelain plate dipped in the desired color, on the drawing paper embossed, light and virtual free grasp, will produce a variety of different shapes of texture.

It is suitable for expressing large areas and rough textures, such as rocks, slopes, trees, etc.

10. Concave product method

This method is different from the previously introduced color accumulation method, the amount of water is small, layer by layer on flat paper; the concave accumulation method is larger, using the concave area color of the paper. The method is to sprinkle the adjusted color on cooked or semi-cooked rice paper, and the amount of water should be larger. Due to the uneven absorption of rice paper, it naturally forms a concave and uneven, the color accumulates in the concave, the concave after drying is dark, and the convex is light, forming different shades of color blocks or line textures, rich in layers, natural and vivid. You can also add chroma by making up the dots in the recesses with a slightly darker color when the color is not dry. According to the needs, the paper can also be crumpled first, and then sprinkled with accumulated color, the effect will be more obvious. It can be done at once, or it can be stained multiple times, it can be used in one color, and it can also be dyed with multiple colors. Commonly used to represent trees, stones, broadleaf textured colors or abstract backgrounds.
