Taiwan's 68-year-old woman received a "Ukrainian officer" distress text message: first call 100,000 to give me food, after the war to Taiwan "look good"
Since the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the Taiwan authorities have been frequently speaking out and rubbing heat, and now even the swindlers on the island want to rely on this to make a wave.
Recently, a 68-year-old woman surnamed Zhuang in Chiayi County, Taiwan, met a man who claimed to be an officer in Ukraine on a dating app, and the man talked about the situation in Russia and Ukraine, and promised to come to Taiwan to spend his old age with Ms. Zhuang after the war was over.
The officer claimed that he could not eat and asked Ms. Zhuang to call him 100,000 yuan, but Ms. Zhuang still could not resist the temptation from the "officer" and obediently went to the post office to send money. If it weren't for the post office staff feeling suspicious and calling the police, Ms. Zhuang would have been really deceived.
The local police said that in recent days, the fraud methods are diverse, but also will rub the heat of war current affairs, if the public encounters fake foreign soldiers or engineers, doctors and other professionals, through the dating APP to talk, to be cautious and careful, if found that there is a difference, should first check with the police to avoid being deceived.
