Chen Shaomei (April 1909 – September 1954), male, Han Chinese, name Yunzhang, also known as Yun Quail, ShengHu, Zi Shaomei, Yixing, born in Hengshan, Hunan Province, a family of scholars, modern painter. Since childhood, he studied calligraphy, painting and poetry with his father, and was deeply influenced by traditional Chinese culture. At the age of 15, he joined the "Chinese Painting Research Society" initiated by Jin Beilou and Chen Shizeng, became the backbone of the famous "Lake Society Painting Society" at the age of 17, and presided over the "Tianjin Branch of the Lake Society" at the age of 22, becoming the leader of the Jinmen painting circle.
Chen Shaomei was born in 1909 in a scholarly xiangmendi in Hengshan, Hunan, so his Indian language is: "Home is in dongting Hengyue". His father, Chen Jiayan (陈嘉言), was a scholar of the Guangxu Dynasty, who served as the editor of the Hanlin Academy, the prefect of Zhangzhou, Fujian, and also presided over the famous Chuanshan Society in Hunan, and was more open-minded. Chen Shaomei loved Danqing so much that when she was sixteen years old, she participated in the Lake Society Painting Club in Beiping, so she was also called ShengHu. It is said that at that time, he was the youngest member of the Lake Society Painting Society and one of the hardest learners. At that time, a large number of Chinese painters gathered in the old Capital, many of whom were also rich, and after several times of study, they returned to the painters on time. After several years of tempering, intelligence and diligence, he has a relatively solid collection of traditional landscapes and figure paintings, and Chen Shaomei started by copying from private collections. Every time he borrowed a masterpiece, he was like a treasure, and he bowed to the candlelight and copied his skills all night; at the age of twenty, he had already made a name for himself in the painting world.
