Unless there are major changes in the epidemic, the 2022 conference will be open for offline participation, and those who cannot travel can choose to attend online. In recent days, news about visas will be sent to the authors.
CVPR is the premier conference in the field of artificial intelligence, and this year's conference will be held June 19-23 in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. It is reported that it is the largest city in the state and one of the important busy large ports in the United States. Some of the notable attractions include Royal Street in the French Territory, Jackson Square, St. Louis Cathedral, Audubon Park and Tulane University, among others. Therefore, if you can participate in the meeting offline, in addition to academic discussion, you can also feel the exotic style.
In the field of artificial intelligence, CVPR has been "elected" as the top conference. According to the 2021 Google Academic Journals & Conferences Impact List. CVPR ranks fourth in the overall list, surpassing The Lancet and behind Science. Perhaps influenced by the CVPR decision, ICML has also begun to discuss the format of the conference, and for now it seems that the hybrid (online-offline) model may become mainstream.

CVPR 2022 Status Quo
According to statistics, CVPR2022 received a total of 2067 papers. Valid contribution data has not yet been released. However, according to the acceptance rate of about 20%, there may be nearly 10,000 submissions.

Since 2016, the number of CVPR submissions has grown almost exponentially. CVPR 2018 increased submissions by 23% compared to CVPR 2017, and CVPR 2019 increased by 56% compared to CVPR 2018. Derek Hoiem, a professor at UIUC and the program chair of CVPR 2019 at the time, joked, "At this exponential growth rate, CVPR can receive 10.8 billion submissions by just 2028, and the average person on the planet has at least one paper submission, including the elderly and children." ”
Compared to last year, CVPR 2022 sets a "social media silence period" for academic papers, during which any social media publicity for papers initiated by authors is considered a policy violation. The purpose of this provision is to address the bias issues that arise during the peer review process because the author institution is exposed.

Indispensable offline communication

From the student's point of view, cloud conferencing may prevent students from getting a personal participation experience and not getting a good exercise.
