Pengsha Academy and Fanggong Lecture Hall, commonly known as "Wen Ancestral Hall", have a history of revering culture and re-education, and were listed as provincial cultural relics protection units in 2012. The repair work of Pengsha Academy has always touched the hearts of many citizens, and the reporter learned from the Longhu District Cultural Center that the second phase of the repair project has been launched in September 2021. Pengsha Academy was founded in the ninth year of Qing Tongzhi (1870), after the "Wang Xingshun People's Rebellion" incident occurred in Waisha during the Qing Xianfeng period, Fang Yao, then the commander-in-chief of Chaozhou, implemented the "Qingxiang" action here, and later advocated the construction of Pengsha Academy, teaching the people with Confucianism, and promoting learning and educating talents, which continued until the Republic of China period.
Pengsha Academy is a brick and stone and shell ash rammed earth wall, stone and wood pillar beam structure, sitting southeast to northwest, for the Chaoshan traditional residential "double sword" layout, the first three entrances for the entrance hall, the middle hall, the upper hall, together with the two sides from the cuo (that is, gang alley, row house). The reporter saw that the "Pengsha Academy" of the gate, together with the "Tongde Ancestral Hall" of the left and right mountain gates, and the "Fang Gong Lecture Hall" of the partial gate, were all handwritten by Ding Ugly Branch Tanhua in the third year of the Qing Dynasty (1877) and Zhong Dexiang, a famous scholar in the late Qing Dynasty. "Using intangible cultural heritage skills to restore ancient buildings, more realistic and exquisite", the person in charge of the construction of Guangdong Ji Chuanying Ancient Building Construction Co., Ltd., the provincial inheritor of the national intangible cultural heritage Chaoshan ancient building construction technology project, told reporters that the repair is based on the principle of "protection first, rational use", repairing the old as old as possible to restore the style of more than a hundred years ago.

In addition to writing a glorious history in the history of education, Pengsha Academy has also left a glorious mark in the history of the Chinese revolution. In September 1938, the Waisha Youth Resistance Association was established, and the site was located in Pengsha Academy; in 1946, Waisha Chen Huichao and other gentlemen used Pengsha Academy to establish Pengsha Junior High School, setting off a boom in science education and national rejuvenation; on the eve of liberation in 1949, some progressive young students of the school went to Phoenix Mountain to participate in the revolution. Pengsha Academy was also a major revolutionary base area in Waisha. In 1926, Chenghai County and its subordinate district township peasant associations were established one after another, and the standing executive committee of the five district peasant associations was Cai Wei (Dayan ren) and the executive committee member Wang Zhenxu (Dongxi people). At the same time, the five district peasant associations set up special branches of the CPC, and the peasant associations and party branches were all located in the Pengsha Academy, and Wei Zhaoliang (a Nanshe person) served as the secretary of the special branch.
In August 1938, Chenghai City held the first member congress of the Chenghai County Youth Anti-Enemy Comrades Association, and then established the Waisha District Association, and the head of the branch, Gao Wuqing, was located in Pengsha Academy. The Chenghai Youth Anti-Japanese Resistance Association Outer Sand Branch will actively carry out various work, organize progressive youth to publicize the anti-Japanese struggle to save the dead, and mobilize young people to rush to the front line of the anti-Japanese resistance.
Targeted repairs are carried out in two phases
After liberation, the two colleges became the office of the people's government of Waisha District (commune, township and town), until 1987, when the government built a new office building and moved out, the two colleges were converted into the town cultural center. Due to the lack of office space at that time, the original architectural layout of the college was greatly added and changed, which greatly changed the overall layout of the college. In 2006, affected by Typhoon Pearl, the roof of the "Fang Gong Lecture Hall" collapsed and was seriously damaged.
In response to these phenomena, the relevant departments have formulated corresponding rescue repair plans. It is understood that the repair project will be carried out in two phases, the first phase of repair is completed in three bidding sections, and the back bag, roof tiles, atrium, west wing, and alley have been repaired successively, and the construction will be completed in 2019.
"The second phase of the repair project is implemented in two construction sections (lots)," said Ji Xueshan, general manager of Guangdong Jichuanying Ancient Building Construction Co., Ltd. and a non-hereditary inheritor of "Chaoshan Ancient Building Construction Techniques", saying that the current implementation of the second phase of the first construction section (lot I) repair project has been launched in September 2021. The content of the first construction section (lot I) is to repair the gatehouse, front and rear courtyards, east wing and gang alley, and demolish the illegal buildings in the front cheng, and the second construction section (lot II) is to restore the middle hall, west wing and gang alley.
The reporter learned that after the repair of Pengsha Academy, it will be used as an important cultural activity position in Waisha Street, and will be built into a science popularization base, cultural front, patriotic education base and other places that carry forward the spirit of Chongwen Xingxue and inherit Chaoshan culture, so that historical and cultural heritage can be injected into the connotation of the times and rejuvenated with new vitality.
