During the 2022 Dice Awards, XBOX boss Phil Spencer was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for his work at Xbox for his past 35 years. According to Eurogamer, Spencer was interviewed by foreign media after the awards ceremony, and when asked if he had anything to say to players, he hoped that players would respect the game's creators, not "weaponize" the game, and stop arguing about "platforms."
Spencer said: "Let's respect the creators. I think a lot of times now games are 'weaponized' and used as ammunition in the fight between the game platform and other things." He thinks that whatever platform the game lands on is worth celebrating.
