Recently, China National Railway Group Co., Ltd. released the 2021 statistical communiqué, which shows that the number of passengers sent by the national railway reached 2.533 billion, an increase of 366 million people over the previous year, an increase of 16.9%; the turnover of national railway passengers completed 955.909 billion person-kilometers, an increase of 130.099 billion person-kilometers over the previous year, an increase of 15.8%.
In terms of freight transportation, the total shipment volume of the national railway freight reached 3.726 billion tons, an increase of 145 million tons over the previous year, an increase of 4.0%. Among them, the container dispatch volume increased by 23.5% over the previous year. The total turnover of national railway freight reached 2,995.001 billion tons, an increase of 255.218 billion tons of kilometers over the previous year, an increase of 9.3%. At the same time, the total conversion turnover of the national railway reached 3,950.910 billion ton-kilometers, an increase of 385.317 billion tons-kilometers over the previous year, an increase of 10.8%.
In terms of railway construction, the national railway operating mileage is 150,000 kilometers, of which 40,000 kilometers are high-speed railways; the density of the national railway road network is 156.7 km/10,000 square kilometers; the double-track rate is 59.5%; the electrification rate is 73.3%, and the railway operating mileage in the western region is 61,000 kilometers; the operating mileage of the national railway is 131,000 kilometers, the double-track rate is 61.9%, and the electrification rate is 75.4%. In addition, the number of railway locomotives in the country is 21,700 units. Among them, 0.78 million internal combustion locomotives, accounting for 35.9%, and 13,900 electric locomotives, accounting for 64.1%.
