BEIJING, March 1 (Xinhua) -- The Beijing Winter Olympics have just come to an end, and Chinese and Korean athletes have performed well in the competition. However, some media blindly pursue traffic, deliberately hype up issues such as national costumes and penalty controversies, bias the public opinion of China and South Korea, and even form a confrontation between the public opinion field. This approach ignores the warmth and emotion brought by the Winter Olympics themselves, and forgets the "positive energy" on the field and the preciousness of Sino-Korean friendship.

After the men's 1500m final in speed skating on February 8, South Korea's Kim Min-seok, who finished third, was wearing a national flag to celebrate when he saw the Chinese player crying because of the abnormal performance on the sidelines, and went straight to his side to pat his back and comfort him.

In the women's short track speed skating 3000m relay race on February 13, the Netherlands, South Korea and China won gold, silver and bronze medals, and the medallists did not leave the field immediately, but gathered together to take a "V" selfie, and the Chinese and Korean players also sat arm in arm on the podium and laughed happily to celebrate the joy of winning the medal. After the game, the International Olympic Committee posted a group photo of the three teams on its official Korean social media account with the text "We are all winners", which received more than 20,000 likes from Korean netizens within a few hours, and some commented that they were "moved to cry by the real Olympic spirit".

Let the misunderstanding stop at the end and the friendship move on

On February 13, the Korean Sports Association posted on social media accounts that the South Korean delegation and Chinese volunteers together piled up the "ice pier" snowman and the Great Wall in the Beijing Winter Olympic Village, turning the door of the Korean team dormitory into a "net red punch card" in the whole village, and the Winter Olympic Village into a "happy global village", which received tens of thousands of likes.

There are also South Korean curler Kim Kyung-ae and others who have repeatedly shown their "ice pier" nail art to the media and on personal social networking sites, Chinese volunteers in Korean backstage to congratulate the Korean athletes on winning the medal, the Chinese Embassy in South Korea on the South Korean team to win the first gold of the Beijing Winter Olympics by the South Korean team was welcomed by the South Korean people... The list goes on and on.

Rather than individual contradictions and controversies, we should pay more attention to the fighting spirit of athletes from all over the world at the Beijing Winter Olympics, the warm moments that shine with the spirit of "more unity" one after another, and the passion, joy and friendship brought by this ice and snow event itself. Chinese often say "friendship first, competition second". South Korea's Minister of Culture and Sports, Hwang Hee, also admitted that although it is crucial to compete for gold and silver in the Winter Olympics, it is more important for China and South Korea to establish cooperation and friendship in competition.

2022 coincides with the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea, and although the Sino-ROK relations that ushered in the "year of establishment" have gone through ups and downs, friendly cooperation has always been the mainstream and general trend of bilateral relations. As Ambassador to the ROK Xing Hae-ming said, China and the ROK are not only close neighbors who cannot be separated, but also like-minded "friends of mo rebellion", "friends of Kim Lan" of interest integration, and "friends of hardships" in the same boat through storms and rains. After 30 years of development, the two countries have long formed a good partnership of mutual assistance and common destiny, and the high-level exchanges between the two countries in the fields of politics, economy and trade, humanities, science and technology, and sports can be described as a model for the development of bilateral relations in the history of international relations.

"The friendship of the country lies in the affinity of the people", and the towering tree of the people's friendship is planted in these daily bits and pieces that are related to you and me. I believe that every ordinary person has a deep understanding of the frequency of non-governmental exchanges between China and South Korea. Chinese tourists can walk unimpeded on the streets of Seoul, South Korea, just by saying Chinese, many Korean film and television works are well-known in China, and Korean cuisine and Chinese food are loved by the people of the other side...

After the dust of the winter Olympic games has settled, we may as well let the misunderstanding stop at the end and the friendship continues to move forward. Only by focusing on the long term, mutual respect and focusing on cooperation can the two countries work together to withstand the storm and move forward together to the future. (End)
