On February 25, foreign media WinFuture reported that Honor plans to launch a mid-range mobile phone called Honor X8 for the global market. The phone is based on the Honor X30i, which launched in China in November. But unlike the Honor X30i, the Honor X8 does not support 5G networks. Instead, Honor limited the X8 to LTE support, i.e. 4G networks. Starting at around 200 euros (about 1400 yuan), the aim is mainly to attract price-sensitive customers who do not rely on 5G support.
The Honor X8 features an unnamed ARM SoC with four high-end ARM Cortex-A73 cores up to 2.4 GHz and four low-end ARM Cortex-A53 cores up to 1.9 GHz. The main memory size is 6GB and the internal flash memory capacity is 128GB.
Honor X8 features a 6.7-inch LTPS-based LCD display with 2388×1080 pixels and a front-facing 16MP selfie lens with a centered cut-out design.
Compared to the Honor X30i, the Honor X8 rear camera is slightly upgraded: it is equipped with a 64-megapixel camera instead of a 48-megapixel camera. In addition, the machine has a 5-megapixel sensor for ultra-wide-angle shooting and two 2-megapixel cameras that may be used for depth effects and macro shooting.
With a capacity of 4000mAh, the Honor X8 is designed to be thin and light, with a thickness of only 7.5mm, and is powered by a USB Type-C port. Sadly, the Honor X8 doesn't have other popular features like NFC and wireless charging, but has a fingerprint reader integrated in the power button. The machine is available in blue, silver and black.
