An artist born in Berlin, Germany, integrates the classical sculpture style into the exaggerated techniques of modern sculpture, deforms and distorts human limbs, and uses incomplete human figures to show the concept of beauty. He was the Polish sculptor, Guermitoragy.
Originally studying painting, Gehr was inspired by a trip to South America that inspired the creation of sculptures. Most of the themes chosen for his works are from Greek myths and legends, using mythical angels, legendary images of Greek gods, imperial mummies, etc. as the theme of creation, and always have the shadow of the Renaissance. However, his work is definitely not a reproduction of ancient culture. It is only the use of those parts of the ancient culture of the human figure, or even a small part, coupled with the deformed face, to show a unique style in incomplete mutilation.
After falling in love with sculpture, he came to Italy, in this country with a Renaissance atmosphere, immersed in the study of sculpture, he used bronze, white jade, clay and other sculpture works, and finally, bronze creation perfectly showed the mutilated beauty, recognized and loved by people.
His sculptural works, although mutilated, are full of lyrical and romantic characteristics, and sometimes have profound philosophical implications. It always gives people a certain inspiration to think about the integrity behind these "mutilations".
"I love to draw, but my sculptures are a separate world, and they don't clash," Gel said. On the contrary, when making sculptures, I almost created them with instinct, painting, which can be said to be the physical knowledge I learned. While sculpting, I learned patience and gradually achieved full control over materials, whether metal or marble, etc. The artist's statement can be understood as the expression of his own instinctive thoughts, and the philosophical rationality implied is the artistic pursuit of beauty, showing the sculpture works with personal characteristics.
Gore's monumental public sculptures were placed in numerous famous places. In London's Financial District, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Agrigento Ruins, Sicily and other places, the world-famous British Museum also has a collection of his works.
Gehr returned to his native Poland at the age of nearly sixty, where he was born in 1944 and returned home in 2003, where he died in 2014. A generation of sculptors with creative fantasies, leaving behind numerous works and people's reverence for him.
