Steam will change the discount rules from March 28

Steam officially announced that it will change the existing discount rules of the marketplace, which is expected to be implemented from March 28, including changes to the upper and lower limits of the discount, the discount cooldown period and other rules.

Steam will change the discount rules from March 28

After March 28, the game's discount cooldown period will be shortened from the original 6 weeks to 4 weeks (i.e. 28 days), which applies to all types of promotions and discounts, but excludes the four large-scale seasonal sales across the store, namely the Lunar New Year Sale, Summer Sale, Autumn Sale and Winter Sale. The discount cooldown period means that the game will have to wait 28 days for other discounts after the launch price reduction, pricing increase, promotion period or future promotions have been scheduled, and the discount price cannot be less than 10% off the original price or 10% higher than the original price.

Discount specific rules:

You can apply the Launch Markdown, but no other discounts may be applied for 28 days after the Starter Sale ends.

Your product cannot be sold at a discount for 28 days after the price increase in any currency.

No other discounts will be allowed for 28 days after the end of the previous discount, except for Seasonal Events across Steam.

Seasonal offers are not available within 28 days of the game's release, 28 days after the start of the sale, or 28 days after the price increase in any currency.

Product prices may not be changed during the promotion or after future promotions have been scheduled.

The discounted price must not be less than 10% of the original price or 90% higher than the original price.

Custom discount periods cannot be longer than 2 weeks or less than 1 day.
