Let's continue with the previous article and continue to talk about the seemingly contradictory management concepts of "only up" and "only down".

Two years ago, there was a fire workplace drama "An Jia", in which the store manager Xu Wenchang was a typical "only subordinate" leader. Xu Wenchang is very tolerant of subordinates, can not see any sharp words, in his eyes, subordinates are all advantages, so that when subordinates do not open orders, mess up the list of villas, and even grab the list of colleagues, he can use his own way to resolve one by one, so that everyone is happy.

Xu Wenchang took the road of being completely close to the people, not only from the top, but even quarreled with his direct leader Zhai Yunxiao, so that his work was often constrained by resistance from the top. Therefore, when the big boss wanted to promote Xu Wenchang, Zhai Yunxiao was directly unhappy.

Under Xu Wenchang's "close to the people" route, the employees of the branch are naturally happy and happy every day, but the performance is at the bottom of the industry, and the business ability of the subordinates has not improved, and even some employees have not opened a single.

From Xu Wenchang, we can feel some of the characteristics of the "lower-type" leader. This kind of leader has strong emotional empathy, just like Xu Wenchang, they encourage subordinates to share and channel emotional feelings, and pay more attention to the emotions generated in dealing with problems than on the problem itself, but in this way, they are also easily affected by the emotions of their subordinates, often feel exhausted, and let themselves fall into endless communication with subordinates.

Therefore, more often, it is difficult for them to manage the emotions of their subordinates. In the play, Xu Wenchang faces the emotional entanglements and dilemmas of his subordinates, in fact, he is powerless, and all he can do is to establish a harmonious and relaxed relationship and create a warm and friendly environment for his subordinates.

The second boss that the wenyou encountered in the previous case was actually this kind of leader.

However, some workplace surveys show that kind, gentle, and people-friendly "only below" leaders are the most popular and the easiest to win the hearts of subordinates.

However, whether it is "only up" or "only down", these two management concepts have little to do with the ability of leadership, they only reflect different value orientations.

"Only the upper type" of the boss focuses on "appreciation", the need to borrow upward energy and resources, so they always pay attention to the high level, all the work goals and deployment are around the intention and idea of the superior to advance, at this time, the real feelings and ideas of the subordinates will not be so important, they care about how to package the performance of the subordinates into the appearance that the senior needs.

"Lower-type" bosses focus on "value preservation" and need to use their subordinates to consolidate their own territory, so they must ensure the cohesion of the team and the stability of the team, the most effective way is to tie themselves to the whole team as Xu Wenchang did, establish an emotional foundation with subordinates, and consolidate their position.

Through the above analysis, if we can grasp the operation mode of "only above" and "only below" from such a bottom relationship, then once we face such a boss, we will make corresponding interaction strategies, and will not regret it afterwards like the literary friend.

In fact, our choices and interaction strategies with our bosses can only be made based on our own interests and needs, so that the bosses we face, whether "only up" or "only down", can be constantly adapted to change. How to choose, we will discuss in the next article. (To be continued)
