What is Sequential Booster Immunization?
"Sequential booster immunization refers to booster immunization using vaccines that are different from basic immunization." Wang Huaqing, chief expert of the immunization program of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said at a press conference held by the joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council on the afternoon of February 19 that in fact, we use a sequential attenuated vaccine to strengthen immunity.
Live attenuated polio vaccine, i.e. one dose of inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) at 2 months of age and one dose of live attenuated polio vaccine (OPV) at 3, 4 months and 4 years of age.
The COVID-19 vaccine sequential booster immunization is also required to complete four doses, but the first two doses of inactivated vaccine and the last two doses of live attenuated vaccine are required.
Who can be immunized sequentially?
Wang Huaqing mentioned that there are four things to pay attention to in order to strengthen immunization: people over 18 years old; 2 doses of inactivated vaccination have been completed; 6 months apart after the second dose of the new crown vaccine; and no third dose.
How should sequential immunization be carried out?
Previously, the target population over the age of 18 who had been vaccinated with Sinopharm Zhongsheng Beijing Company, Beijing Kexing Company, Sinopharm Zhongsheng Wuhan Company inactivated vaccine or Tianjin CanSino Company's adenovirus vector vaccine for 6 months could be subjected to a dose of homologous enhanced immunization, that is, strengthened with the original vaccine. After the implementation of the sequential enhanced immunization strategy, the target population who has completed the full vaccination of the above three inactivated vaccines can also choose the recombinant protein vaccine of Zhifeilong Koma or the adenovirus vector vaccine of Cansino for sequential enhanced immunization.
Can homologous and sequential immunization go hand in hand?
For the target population, homologous booster immunization and sequential booster immunization can be selected. Wu Liangyou said that the research data show that the homologous strengthening of immunization and the sequential strengthening of immunization can further improve the immunization effect, and people who hope to meet the vaccination conditions can take the initiative to vaccinate and vaccinate early, increase health and fuel for epidemic prevention.
