One study proved that inactivated vaccines remain effective against Omiquerong

Recently, a retrospective study based on the clinical data of 430 cases of Positive Infection of Semickerong, which was first published in Tianjin in mainland China, proved that 3 doses of inactivated vaccine can significantly reduce the severity of the disease of Omilon infected people, effectively shorten the course of disease, and prove the sustained effectiveness of inactivated vaccines against Omiljung variants through true virus neutralization experiments.

This result comes from the combined research team of the First Affiliated Central Hospital of Nankai University, Changping National Laboratory, Peking University Biomedical Frontier Innovation Center, Nankai University Institute of Immunology, Tianjin Institute of Hepatobiliary Diseases, Department of Immunology, Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Beijing You'an Hospital, and State Key Laboratory of Medical Immunology of Naval Military Medical University. They conducted a series of statistical analyses based on 430 cases of COVID-19 infected with Omicron BA.1 confirmed in Tianjin from January 8 to February 7, 2022, combining clinical data with COVID-19 vaccination information.

The 430 cases of new coronavirus infection in this research work were discharged from Tianjin Haihe Hospital and admitted to the Shuixi Branch of the First Central Hospital Affiliated to Nankai University for isolation and rehabilitation treatment. Among them, 316 adult patients (73.5%) with a median age of 47 years, and 114 cases (26.5%) of minor patients, with a median age of 10 years. The severity of the disease was predominantly mild (47.7%) and normal (50.2%), with 2 severe cases (0.5%) and 7 asymptomatic infected patients (1.6%), with no deaths.

The researchers found that in COVID-19 Omilon infection, increased age is an independent risk factor for disease severity. 87.8% of underage patients have only mild symptoms or asymptomatic symptoms, while the proportion of adults with mild or asymptomatic infections is only 35.4%. Juvenile infected patients do not need ICU treatment, and there are fewer returns to the yang after nucleic acid negative (12.3% V.S. 22.5%).

"Clinical data show that the higher the age, the more severe the symptoms after infection, which suggests that we should focus on strengthening the epidemic protection of the middle-aged and elderly population to reduce the health damage of the epidemic to the public." Zheng Hong, vice president of the First Affiliated Central Hospital of Nankai University, said.

Of the 430 infected patients, 341 (79.3%) were vaccinated against inactivated vaccines (kexing Zhongwei and Beijing Bio-based), 49 (11.4%) were vaccinated against adenovirus vector vaccine (Cansino), 2 (0.5%) were vaccinated against recombinant protein subunit vaccine (Zhifeilong Koma), and 38 (8.8%) were not vaccinated against any of the new crown vaccines. In response to the problem of vaccine effectiveness that the public is most concerned about, the research team conducted a scientific analysis.

Statistics show that adult vaccination throughout the inactivated vaccine and booster injection can significantly reduce the severity of clinical symptoms, reduce ICU admission, reduce nucleic acid recurrence rate, and shorten hospitalization and recovery time (on average shortened by 1-2 days). The researchers analyzed the results of laboratory tests in the initial stage of recovery after nucleic acid negative turning and found that infected people who received inactivated vaccine boosters entered the period of inflammation regression more quickly, and their systemic immune inflammation index, C-reactive protein levels, and lymphocyte ratio were relatively lower.

"We believe these laboratory indicators mark lower levels of inflammation, suggesting that vaccination with 3 doses of inactivated vaccine may shorten the course of COVID-19 by inducing inflammatory outcomes." Jiang Wentao, vice president of the First Affiliated Central Hospital of Nankai University, said.

In order to further verify the protective efficacy of the COVID-19 inactivated vaccine, the research team determined the plasma neutralizing antibody titer of a person who recovered from Omilon infection through the true virus neutralization experiment of the new crown virus.

The experimental results showed that the geometric mean of 50% neutralizing titer (NT50) for the original strain for infected people receiving 3 doses of inactivated vaccine was 4.2 times and 8.4 times that of NT50 for beta and Omilon, respectively. Plasma neutralization titers are higher in ordinary patients than in mild patients. Compared with healthy people vaccinated with three doses of Theoxing inactivated vaccine, breakthrough infected people who received three doses of inactivated vaccine had a significant increase in neutralizing potency for Omikron (8.7 times) and cross-immunity against beta (4.5 times) and the original strain (2.2 times).

"Experiments have shown that after 3 months of inactivated vaccine booster injection, the body still has a certain neutralizing antibody against Omilon, and the breakthrough of the infected person forms a strong humoral immune barrier against Omilon, which is of extremely critical significance for the development of neutralizing antibody drugs against Omilon strains and new variants in the future." Chen Xiaosu, a postdoctoral fellow at the Institute of Immunology of Nankai University, said.
