The Jiangsu region has always been known for its Wu Yun Han style. Here, archaeologists have successively found the tombs of the Chu kings and the guangling kings in the Han Dynasty. However, what people may not know is that here, there is also a magnificent underground palace, which was only seen again because of a few unlucky tomb robbers.
It all started in 2008, late at night on December 31, and we're about to enter the new year. In a farmyard on the outskirts of Xuyi, Jiangsu Province, several people are plotting a grand plan. About a month ago, Zhao Jianxin, the leader of a group of people, found an ancient tomb and almost hit the robbery cave to the edge of the tomb. This time, I discussed with everyone to determine the specific details of entering the tomb.
Several people pushed the cup and changed the cup at the same time, but also arranged the action properly, three days later, as soon as the auspicious day arrived, they entered the tomb to make a fortune. When the time came, Zhao Jianxin personally commanded a group of "Lieutenants Touching Gold" to start their own work. However, something happened that made their hearts hairy, and the two people who went down at the beginning did not respond for a long time.
In the dark of night, everyone waiting outside was a little chilling. In desperation, Zhao Jianxin could only go down with an accomplice to see what the situation was. But as soon as the two men left, there was no movement.
Two days later, the police received a report that two bodies had been found in an abandoned car. Although the identity of the corpses cannot be determined, the soles of their shoes are covered with strange dirt, and experts have determined that the dirt called "green paste mud" and "white paste mud" can only appear in high-level ancient tombs with a long history. Tombs with this kind of dirt must at least reach the status of marquis or above.
At this point, the identities of the two deceased people were revealed, and the police followed the idea of tomb robbery and successfully arrested the entire tomb robbery gang. From their mouths, they learned the truth of that day: four people in two batches did not move for a long time, and the people above knew that there must have been an accident, and this strange thing made them almost frightened.
But in the end, there was a bold decision to go down and take a look. At this point, it was found that the previous four people had all been in shock, and after the effort to drag them up with a rope, all four of them had lost their lives. Others in the gang buried two of them on the spot, while the bodies of the remaining two were hidden in cars and abandoned.
The tomb robbers confessed the burial site on the Dayun Mountain in the east of Xuyi, Jiangsu Province. The mountain is only more than seventy meters above sea level, and there is a pond on the top of the mountain, which is called Longtang by the locals, and the robbery hole created by the tomb robbers is near longtang. In 2009, the Nanjing Municipal Museum officially sent an archaeological team to explore the tomb, which was almost infected by cockroach thieves.
In the initial exploration stage, the archaeological team was surprised, and they actually found han dynasty tiles and pottery pieces. After a period of exploration, the archaeological team determined that there was an ancient tomb of the Han Dynasty here.
When the original appearance of the tomb restored by technical means appeared in front of everyone's eyes, the scale of the tomb surprised everyone. This tomb turned out to be a large "Medium" shaped tomb that was more than two hundred meters long, which indicated that it was most likely the burial place of a Han Dynasty patriarch.
However, the surprises are much more than that. After further exploration, archaeologists found that there was not only one main tomb here, but three in all. Directly below Longtang is the tomb of the owner of the tomb No. 1, and there are two other main tombs lined up. In addition, eleven funerary tombs and four funerary pits are scattered. This large area of tombs is tightly surrounded by walls. Underneath the top of this big cloud mountain, there was an underground kingdom of about 250,000 square meters.
The size of the tomb is so large that the exploration work alone has been going on for more than a year. With the approval of the superiors, the first trial excavation work began. Perhaps because there were too many surprises before, as soon as the work began, the archaeological team ushered in a painful blow.
The tomb is under the Dragon Pond, and in order to excavate, the water in the Dragon Pond must first be drained. The water was pumped away little by little, but the experts found something under the water that made their hearts fall into the abyss.
After draining the Dragon Pond, there were some cultural relics from the Han Dynasty, which means that the magnificent underground palace may have been visited by tomb robbers as early as a thousand years ago. More serious situations are still to come, and when the archaeological team continues to dig down, every time they dig, the mood will be one point lower. They found a large number of ancient tomb robbery tools and were surprised to conclude that this dragon pond did not exist to protect the tomb. On the contrary, it is the site of a huge robbery cave in itself.
Among the excavated tomb robbery tools was a wooden ruler that attracted the attention of experts, this ruler was twenty-four centimeters a foot, and the experts compared the weights and measures to determine that this should be something from the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty to the Wei and Jin dynasties. To be able to dig such a large thief hole, it must not be a folk cockroach thief, but also a person in this period of time, a possible name can not help but float in the hearts of everyone, that is, the grandfather of Lieutenant Touching Jin, Cao Cao.
This prediction made the archaeologists very disappointed, and what remained of the tombs excavated by the army had already learned a lot from the past. But the work still had to be carried out, and with the opening of Tomb No. 1, the situation was indeed the same as predicted, not only was the main coffin's coffin room a mess, but even the coffin lid was moved more than ten meters away.
But just when everyone is desperate, the so-called mountains and rivers are doubtful and there is no way, and the willows are dark and the flowers are bright and another village. The archaeologists actually found fragments of golden jade clothes in a pile of wood slag. The name of the golden jade dress must be familiar to everyone, it is the burial dress that only the emperor and the kings of the clan can use in the Han Dynasty. We have unearthed less than ten pieces of this precious thing in total, will we be able to harvest another one here?
But unfortunately, in the end, the crowd only found a lot of fragments, and there was no complete clothing, which made people can't help but secretly curse the tomb robbers for their violent destruction. However, in a cloister, the team members found that they had escaped the poisonous hands of tomb robbers here, and there were many complete precious cultural relics, which were classified according to the category, including musical instruments such as chimes, sacrificial artifacts, and many ornaments.
Experts found a fish-shaped jade in a lacquer box, which was specially used to rub the face, plus there were other cosmetics to accompany the funeral, it seems that there is a person who is quite good at maintenance. Various materials have been found in the bathtub alone, and even a few bath stones have been unearthed.
What kind of dignitaries would pay so much attention to grooming? Experts remembered some tiles they had found earlier, without exception, with the word "Dongyang" written on them. Dongyang, which should refer to the ancient Dongyang City, is just a few kilometers around this Big Cloud Mountain, and with the addition of such funeral rites at least being princes, the target has shrunk a lot.
The experts first selected six possibilities, five of which were Han clan relatives surnamed Liu. As long as you find a cultural relic that can represent the era name, you can completely lock down who the owner of the tomb really is.
Finally, the archaeological team found that the structure of this tomb coffin was actually somewhat special, and it was the structure of the yellow intestine inscription. This yellow intestine is a frame structure made of cypress wood around the rafters, and only the emperor can have this treatment. If the princes and courtiers want to use it after death, they must be approved by the emperor and specially given. For example, after the death of Huo Guang of the Han Dynasty, Emperor Xuan of Han gave a zigong, a convenient room, and a yellow intestine inscription to show his supreme mourning.
With this discovery, the identity of the owner of the tomb became clear, and such a special honor was recorded in the history books, and the owner of this large tomb was Liu Fei, the king of the Great Han River. Liu Fei was originally made the King of Runan, but later made great contributions to the rebellion of the Seven Kingdoms, and became the King of Jiangdu, ruling the territory of the former King of Wu, and reigned for twenty-seven years.
Liu Fei was a clan nobleman with abundant martial virtues, so he was able to make a contribution to the war. In his burial chamber, the archaeological team found 300 arrows in a quiver, and there were fifteen varieties of arrows, covering almost all the varieties of arrows shot at that time in the long distance and short range. And the excavation of a piece of copper beryllium is even more amazing.
Beryllium is a two-sided bladed, sword-like shaped, long-handled rifle weapon with a long handle. The beryllium is at least 2100 years old, but the black beryllium body still glows darkly and is not defective. In addition, although the black cirrus pattern on the beryllium body is clearly visible, it is very smooth to the touch, and the presence of the pattern is not felt at all. This casting technique called dark pattern has also long been lost.
Although it may have been touched, Liu Fei's tomb has left us with an invaluable legacy. But we also regret that it was discovered in such a unique way as the tomb robbery. Perhaps our ancestors still have countless treasures hidden in the long river of history and the dark underground, but we believe that one day they will be seen again.
