The 48-year-old Li Yaya, deputy director of the Department of Pediatric Orthopedics at the Third Hospital of Hebei Medical University, also has a special status as the captain of the Genting team of the "Winter Olympic Ski Medical Security Dream Team" and is a ski doctor. At the beginning of 2019, more than 10 top three hospitals in Beijing and Hebei dispatched relevant clinical personnel to form the "Beijing Winter Olympic Ski Medical Security Dream Team" to train the first batch of ski doctors in China. Li Yaya signed up for the first time.

Li Yaya remembers that during training, in the snow field of minus 20 or 30 degrees, they knelt in the snow to practice CPR, lying on a steep slope to practice sliding, falling and being injured were commonplace. According to the International Snow Federation, if an athlete falls during the race, medical workers must be on the scene within 4 minutes, and the only tool they can rely on is skis. It was difficult to practice to the extent of "biting your teeth and running", and you also had to carry a first-aid kit, oxygen cylinders and other nearly 15 kilograms of weight to continue training. The team members were injured one by one, and Li Yaya had two rib fractures.

Fast forward three years, and these people have been upgraded from medical workers with different skiing levels and various specialties to ski doctors with alpine snow rescue capabilities.

Genting Ski Resort performs aerial skills, snow skills, U-shaped pool fields, parallel giant slalom, slope obstacle courses, obstacle chases and other sports, and athletes sometimes fall. Once, an athlete fell, rolled over, suffered a head injury, lost consciousness, and had difficulty breathing, and with the joint efforts of the ski medical team, the airway opening, oxygen and neck fixation were quickly carried out, and the athlete finally regained consciousness. On another occasion, the medical team was two hundred meters away from the scene of the athlete's fall. After receiving the order, they arrived at the scene in 10 seconds, urgently bandaged and fixed the wounded man, and took him to the athletes' medical station in less than 10 minutes. Li Yaya said that the snow field is also a "battlefield" to save lives, and the faster the rescue, the less dangerous.

On February 15, Gu Ailing fell in the first jump of the freestyle ski women's slope obstacle course final, and Li Yaya's heart tightened, but later he was relieved to see that she quickly stood up and slid to the finish line, and from Gu Ailing's state, he could see that she was not injured. "Although it took 3 years to become a ski doctor, the biggest wish of the ski doctors is: only guard, not play." Li Yaya said that it is the wish of every ski doctor to let the athletes come to the competition happily and go home safely.
