Yan Zhenqing (燕真卿), an official during the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, served the imperial history in the palace, and later went out to guard Pingyuan County. In 755, the Anshi Rebellion began, and the 17 counties north of the Yellow River promoted Yan Zhenqing as the commander and fought with the rebel army many times. An Lushan attacked the eastern capital Luoyang, killed the remaining defenders Li Xi, YushiZhonglu Yi, and the judge Jiang Qing, and sent people with 3 people to the Hebei region to persuade them to surrender. Yan Zhenqing killed his emissaries and buried the heads of the three people to show that he would never surrender.
Later, Li Guangbi and Guo Ziyi defeated Shi Siming at Jiashan, and the siege of Pingyuan was solved. Yan Zhenqing returned to the imperial court, at this time the emperor was Tang Suzong, and later through Emperor Daizong to Emperor Dezong, Yan Zhenqing was loyal to his duties and honest and honest in his duties, whether he was an official in the local government or in the imperial court.
During the reign of Emperor Dezong of Tang, Huaixi Jiedu had Li Xilie launch a rebellion, capture Ruzhou, and threaten the eastern capital Luoyang. Yan Zhenqing, a major minister of the Imperial Court, went to Xuzhou to comfort Li Xilie, was imprisoned, and was eventually hanged at the age of 77.
In the second year of his murder, the imperial court honored yan Zhenqing as a situ, and was known as "Wen Zhong". Because Yan Zhenqing was once named the "Founding Duke of Lu County", the world called him "Duke of Yan Lu".
Where Yan Zhenqing was buried after his death, neither the old nor the new (Book of Tang) biography is stated. In some local historical records, some say that in his ancestral langyafei county in Shandong, some say that in his hometown of Jingzhao Wannian County in Shaanxi, and some say that it is in Yanshi County, Henan Province.
After Yan Zhenqing was killed by Li Xilie in Caizhou, he should have been hastily buried by the local area. Later, the imperial court posthumously sealed him to formally bury his body, the most reasonable of which was to transport him back to his hometown of Jingzhao Wannian (present-day Xi'an). However, at that time, the town was powerful, the war was constant, and the road was far away. It is said that the imperial court was ready to bury him in the eastern capital Luoyang, and after arriving at Yanshi, the children of Yan Zhenqing's brother Yan Chunqing proposed to bury his uncle here.
