Beijing, 16 Feb (Xinhua) -- Recently, the Olympic Expo series of activities "Wu Xiaolin Purple Sand Sculpture Winter Olympic Theme Exhibition" opened in Beijing.
The Olympic Expo is an Olympic-themed international event organized by the International Olympic Committee and the Samaranch Sports Development Foundation, and supported by the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics Organizing Committee, the Chinese Olympic Committee and the Beijing Olympic Culture Promotion Association. The "Wu Xiaolin Purple Sand Sculpture Winter Olympic Theme Exhibition" not only exhibits the purple sand sculpture created by the famous purple sand artist Wu Xiaolin, but also selects the Olympic historical and cultural heritage such as the olympic torch and mascot of many Olympic games, and fully displays the glory and splendid civilization of the modern Olympic Games in a rich form and from a variety of perspectives.
Purple sand art is a traditional Chinese cultural art and an important part of ceramic culture and ceramic art. In order to celebrate the holding of the Beijing Winter Olympic Games, the Organizing Committee of the Olympic Expo specially invited Wu Xiaolin, a master of arts and crafts and ceramic art in Jiangsu Province, to create a group of large-scale purple sand sculptures with the theme of ice and snow sports. He lasted three years, closely following the essence of Olympic culture, and chose the two most representative ice and snow sports in the mainland, skiing and ice dragon boating, as the creative content.
