Tramway news: Today, the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance (referred to as the "Battery Alliance") released the monthly data of power batteries in January this year, and the output of power batteries in the mainland in January totaled 29.7GWh, up 146.2% year-on-year, down 6.2% month-on-month, and the installed capacity totaled 16.2GWh, up 86.9% year-on-year, down 38.3% month-on-month, achieving substantial year-on-year growth.

In January, the output of ternary batteries was 10.8GWh, accounting for 36.5% of the total output, up 57.9% year-on-year and down 5.4% month-on-month; the output of lithium iron phosphate batteries was 18.8GWh, accounting for 63.3% of the total output, up 261.8% year-on-year, and down 6.3% month-on-month. The installed capacity of ternary batteries and lithium iron phosphate batteries was 7.3GWh and 8.9GWh, respectively, up 35.2% and 172.7% year-on-year, and down 34.0% and 41.0% respectively.

Lithium iron phosphate batteries have developed rapidly in the past year, and the gap between lithium iron phosphate has been increasing since lithium iron phosphate surpassed ternary lithium batteries in July. From January to December 2021, the installed capacity of power batteries in mainland China totaled 154.5GWh, an increase of 142.8% year-on-year. Among them, the installed capacity of ternary batteries accumulated 74.3GWh, accounting for 48.1% of the total installed capacity, an increase of 91.3% year-on-year; the installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate batteries accumulated 79.8GWh, accounting for 51.7% of the total installed capacity, an increase of 227.4% year-on-year.

Judging from the data in January this year, the output and installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate continue to exceed that of ternary batteries, and the growth rate is significantly higher than that of ternary batteries.

Although the current number of battery companies is large, the market is gradually concentrating on the head enterprises. According to the data of the Battery Alliance, a total of 35 power battery companies in the mainland new energy vehicle market achieved loading equipment in January, a decrease of 1 from the same period last year. The installed capacity of the top 3, top 5 and top 10 power battery companies was 12.7GWh, 14.1 GWh and 15.3GWh respectively, accounting for 78.6%, 87.1% and 94.8% of the total installed capacity, respectively.

From the top 3, top 5 and top 10 power battery companies in the whole of last year, the installed power battery capacity was 114.6GWh, 128.9GWh and 142.5GWh, accounting for 74.2%, 83.4% and 92.3% of the total installed capacity, respectively. It is not difficult to see that the concentration of installed capacity of power battery companies has been further improved.

Overall, the highest installed battery capacity in January is still the Ningde era, the installed capacity of 8.13GWh, the market share of 50.24%, the second is BYD, the installed capacity of 3.39GWh, the market share of 20.93%, China Innovation Airlines ranked third, the installed capacity of 1.2GWh, the market share of 7.4%.

In the lithium iron phosphate battery installed enterprises, Ningde era and BYD occupy a total of 81% of the market share, Ningde era installed capacity of 3.96GWh, BYD installed capacity of 3.24GWh, the gap between the two has been very small.

Among the installed enterprises of ternary lithium batteries, it is still a dominant one in the Ningde era, with an installed capacity of 4.17GWh and a market share of 57.17%, followed by a new aviation installed capacity of 1.03GWh, with a market share of 14.05%.
