According to data released by SNE Research, a South Korean market research institute, in 2021, the global installed capacity of power batteries reached 296.8 GWh, an increase of 102.3% year-on-year. Among them, the top ten giants of global power battery brands occupy more than 90% of the market share, and all of them are power battery companies in China, Japan and South Korea. Among the ten giants, there are as many as six Chinese brands. CATL ranked first with an installed capacity of 96.7 GWh, with a market share of nearly one-third, far exceeding the second place South Korea's LG New Energy and the third place Japan's Panasonic.
Among the six Chinese power battery brands in the top ten, five of them rose very fiercely, and the increase in installed capacity was all more than doubled, and the brand with the largest increase was Hive Energy, which soared more than four times.
The four Japanese and Korean power battery companies, in addition to the doubling of the growth rate of SK On, the other three growth rates are in double digits, and Panasonic Power Battery, the only brand in Japan, has the smallest increase in power batteries, only 33.5%, and the market share has also fallen to 12.2%.
Judging from the list, the current global power battery market is basically monopolized by the brands of China, Japan and South Korea, but Chinese brands undoubtedly occupy an absolute advantage. Only Korean brands can compete with Chinese power battery brands, but they are not rivals of Chinese brands. In the field of new energy power batteries, Chinese brands are really at the forefront of the world.
