On Feb. 16, regulatory documents show that just days after the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) called on Elon Musk to donate $6 billion to help alleviate global famine, Musk actually donated more than 5 million shares. However, David Beasley, executive director of WFP, said they had not received any donations.

On Halloween last year, Musk promised on Twitter that if WFP "could accurately describe on Twitter how $6 billion would solve the world famine problem," he would sell Tesla stock and donate $6 billion to WFP. On Monday, November 15, Beasley came up with a proposal in response to Musk. Then on Friday, Musk began transferring his stake to a charity. According to Tesla's Form 5 filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Musk donated about 5.04 million shares worth about $5.7 billion to an unnamed charity from November 19 to November 29 last year.

WFP spokesman Steve Taravella declined to disclose any information, saying: "WFP's practice has always been to let donors disclose any possible contributions themselves. ”
However, Beasley said in a statement of his own on Tuesday that the group had not received any funding. "WFP's receipt of the money remains to be seen, but I'm excited to hear that Elon is involved. This is a remarkable, great first step. Beasley said.
