The 19-year-old Chinese teenager Jung once again finished fifth with a "counterattack" in the last two jumps – and this is only the first time that a Chinese athlete has participated in the Winter Olympic Games of the project.
The snowboard jump was first contested at the Winter Olympics in 2018, but the Chinese team did not qualify. Jung has been competing internationally since the 2019-2020 season and has twice been on the podium in the lower-level event big jump event. This season, Jung participated in the FIS World Cup for the first time and reached the final of the Kur station in Switzerland, becoming China's "first man". With her steady performance in the points race, she successfully activated the host spot. Moving to the big jump, Jung's performance went further. In the qualifying round on the morning of the 14th, she became the first Chinese athlete to appear in the winter Olympic games of the project. With the steady performance of the last two rounds of sliding, Jung successfully "counterattacked" from the 28th place after the first round to the ninth place, and advanced to the final with his head held high. After the game, she said that the goal of the final was to do her best: "Let go of playing, do the best!" ”
The final was played in three rounds, and the best results of the two rounds of different movements were added together to qualify the ranking. In the first two rounds, the order of appearances of 12 players was determined according to the ranking of the qualifiers, and Jung came in fourth place. In the first round of skating, the players who retained their strength in the qualifiers came up with difficult moves. Jung chose the difficulty of turning two times 1080 degrees, but when he landed, he held the ground and scored only 29.00 points, ranking eighth.
In the second round, Jung chose the same move and landed successfully, scoring 85.75 points, ensuring a high score in one direction. After completing the action, the little girl also patted her chest very happily and smiled. After that round, Jung was provisionally ranked 10th.
In the final round, the players appeared in reverse order according to the ranking of the first two rounds. Still on the fourth field, Jung managed to complete the 900-degree inside turn and scored 74.25 points, with a total of 160.00 points. At the end of the round, the result came in fifth place. Although Jung did not finish on the podium, he still made the history of Chinese snowboarding in this project.
