Jung

Jung's interpretation of dreams is unique.

A few months before Jung's widow, in the autumn of 1922, his father reappeared in Jung's dream. Since his father's death in 1896, Jung had never dreamed of him, and now his father seemed to have returned from a long journey, looking like a child, unlike his strict father. "I followed him into my library and was ecstatic at learning how he was doing, especially looking forward to introducing him to his wife and children, showing him the house, telling me about what I had done and accomplished in the meantime, and talking about the recently published books of psychological genres. But then it became clear that none of this was possible, because my father seemed to want something from me, and I obviously felt it. Then he said, because I'm a psychologist, he wants to consult with me, and it's about the psychology of marriage. I was ready to say a few more tricky digressions about marriage, and then I woke up, unable to really understand the dream, because I did not expect to refer to the death of my mother, and in 1923, she died suddenly, and I understood it.

"The marriage of the parents is not happy and harmonious, but a lot of discord, competition patience, both of them have made many inevitable mistakes for couples." I could have foreseen the death of my mother in my dream, but after 26 years of disobedience, my father asked the psychologist in a dream about the latest understanding and knowledge of the marriage problem, because for him, it was time to rediscover the problem. Obviously, in an open-ended state, he did not increase his insight, so he had to seek advice from the living, and time changed easily, and the living may gain some new perspectives. ”

Jung loved alchemy, and we thought of alchemists as primitive chemists, but Jung thought they were also primitive psychologists. When he discovered that his ancestor, Carl Jung, the Doctor of Medicine, was also familiar with the works of alchemists, he was very impressed:

"When I carved the ancestral tablets, I understood that I was related to the fate of my ancestors, which is worth noting, and I strongly felt that the unfinished, unanswered things or questions left by my parents, grandparents and other ancestors affected me, and there seemed to be a often karmic obstacle in a family from parents to children. I always feel that the questions that I have been destined to ask in my ancestors, and I have to answer them, but they have not yet been answered, or it seems that I have to complete or even continue the things that have been unfinished in ancient times, these questions are more individual or universal (collective) difficult to identify. I think it's the latter. ”

Goethe

Legend has it that Jung's grandfather was the illegitimate son of the great German poet Goethe. Jung thought that this seemed to be both a matter of fact and an explanation of his strange reaction to Goethe's famous faust:

"Faust is touching my heart, reaching the hearts of the people in ways that can only be understood as individuals, especially the issues of good and evil, spirit and matter, and the opposition between light and dark. The useless and unclear philosopher Faust clashes with his dark side, the eerie shadow of Morpheus, and compared to the scholar who rubbed shoulders with suicide like a dead ash, Morpheus, although passive and negative by nature, means authentic vitality. My inner contradictions are exaggerated on this point. Goethe somehow laid the groundwork, framing my own entanglement and solution. I felt that Faust and Morpheus could be reduced to one person, and this person was me. ”

Jung's story of healing the hearts and minds of the sick may be even more thrilling than the metaphysical reflection described above.

A female patient, after communicating with Jung, finally told her tragic story.

The woman had known the son of a great industrialist, and all the girls around him were interested in him. She felt that she was beautiful and should have a chance. But later, he felt that the son of an industrialist was not interested in her, so he married.

Five years later, an old friend came to visit and told her that the son of the industrialist was interested in her, and that her marriage was a blow to him.

In this instant, she was depressed. A few weeks later, disaster struck.

She bathed her four-year-old daughter, who lived in the countryside, when Switzerland was not as good as it is today, and the bath water was polluted river water. When the little girl sucked the sponge, she did not stop it, and soon the little daughter died of typhoid fever. At that moment, she suffered an acute attack of depression and was admitted to the hospital.

After talking to Jung, she was discharged two weeks later and never went to a mental hospital again.

Another man came from a noble family, had a wife, and was seemingly carefree, but he was greedy and always tried to anesthetize himself.

It turned out that his mother was a big business owner, and he was in an important position in the enterprise, not willing to be subordinate, but he was reluctant to sacrifice such a dazzling position, and could only drink heavily and anesthetize his emotions.

Jung observed that his mother was a wise man, but a first-class demon, and saw that his son had to resist something and was powerless to resist.

Jung decided to make a surprise attack and behind his back issued an appraisal to his mother, proving that he was unable to perform his duties in her company for a long time due to alcoholism and should be dismissed. The mother heeded this advice, and the son, of course, was furious with Jung.

But in the end, he not only quit his addiction, but also found a unique way and was very successful.

There is also an anonymous high-society woman who claims to have been a doctor and came to Jung to confess.

She killed someone out of jealousy 20 years ago, poisoned her best girlfriend, and married her husband. But the husband died young, and their daughter also married early, and finally lost contact. She was an avid rider, and one day the horses were restless under her, and even her favorite horse was startled and threw her down. Eventually, she had to give up riding horses and instead deal with dogs, falling in love with a particularly beautiful wolfhound, which unfortunately also became paralyzed. Having had enough, she had to confess to Jung. She was a murderer, but she also killed herself.

Once, a noblewoman came to Jung, and she slapped her employees (including doctors) at every turn, suffered from obsessive-compulsive neurosis, had been treated in a hospital, and needless to say, she quickly slapped the chief physician, who in her eyes was just a senior male servant. She paid for it!

The noblewoman, who was tall and six feet tall, began to talk well, and then when Jung had to say something ugly, she thundered and threatened to beat Jung. Jung also jumped up and told her, "Well, you're the lady, you do it first— lady first!" But I went on to fight back! She fell back into her chair, then grumbled, "No one has said that to me yet." "But from this moment on, the treatment was fruitful.

Jung's comment was that what the female patient needed was a masculine response, and in this case, the "peer" was completely wrong and did not benefit her. She suffers from obsessive-compulsive neurosis because of her inability to be ethically self-disciplined, and it is precisely because of obsessive-compulsive symptoms that such people are not bound by nature.
