Specific to the provincial level, Jiangsu's education rectification has attracted much attention from the outside world.
On October 24, 2020, Wang Like, member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and secretary of the Political and Legal Committee, voluntarily surrendered, becoming the first provincial-level political and legal committee secretary to voluntarily surrender since the 19th National Congress.
On September 7, the Jiangsu Provincial Political and Legal Contingent Education and Rectification Leading Group held a meeting. At this meeting, Wang Like was mentioned by name as a "political and legal tiger" in Jiangsu.

On September 7, the Jiangsu Provincial Political and Legal Contingent Education and Rectification Leading Group held a meeting to summarize and exchange the work of study and education, and to study and deploy the task of inspection, rectification and reform.
According to local media disclosures, all senior officials of Jiangsu's political and legal system attended the meeting, including Fei Gaoyun, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial CPC Committee and secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission, Liu Yang, vice governor and director of the Provincial Public Security Department, Xia Daohu, president of the Provincial Court, Liu Hua, chief procurator of the Provincial Procuratorate, Zhu Guangyuan, executive deputy secretary of the Political and Legal Committee of the Provincial CPC Committee, and Liu Yuxiang, director of the Provincial Department of Justice.
Among them, Fei Gaoyun was born in August 1971 and is one of the three "post-70s" provincial political and legal committee secretaries in the country.
He has worked in Jiangsu for a long time, serving as vice governor of Jiangsu Province, and just took up the position of standing committee member of the new Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and secretary of the Political and Legal Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee in January 2021.
At the meeting, Fei Gaoyun said: Leading political and legal cadres should take the lead in setting an example and at a higher level, persistently put themselves in their place, put their responsibilities in it, and put their work in it, take the lead in investigating problems, keeping an eye on clues, and grasping rectification and reform, so as to ensure that problems are not rectified and reformed, and that rectification and reform are not left unchecked.
Fei Gaoyun also specifically mentioned "increasing the intensity of investigation and punishment."
He said: We should thoroughly explore and sort out clues, efficiently verify problems, and standardize the handling of cases. Deeply absorb the lessons of the wang likes of Wang Like, Yan Ming, Zhao Zhixin, Zhang Xuan, Du Rongliang, and other cases, seriously investigate and deal with the "two-faced faction" and "two-faced people" who are disloyal and dishonest to the party, and continue to purify the political ecology of provincial-level political and legal organs.
Zheng Zhijun noted that Wang Like served as member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial CPC Committee and secretary of the Political and Legal Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial CPC Committee; Yan Ming was once deputy director of the State Security Department of Jiangsu Province; deputy secretary of the party leading group and deputy chief procurator of the Jiangsu Provincial People's Procuratorate; Zhao Zhixin was former vice mayor of Wuxi City and director of the Municipal Public Security Bureau; Zhang Xuan was former vice mayor of Nantong City and director of the Municipal Public Security Bureau; and Du Rongliang was formerly vice mayor of Changzhou City and director of the Municipal Public Security Bureau.

Wang Like is the first provincial-level political and legal committee secretary to fall from power since the 19th National Congress, and the first provincial-level political and legal committee secretary to voluntarily surrender since the 19th National Congress.
According to public information, Wang Like was born in December 1964, 57 years old this year, has been serving in Liaoning Province for a long time, serving as vice mayor of Dalian Municipal Government, director of the Municipal Public Security Bureau of Liaoning Province, deputy director of the Public Security Department of Liaoning Province, etc. In March 2013, he went to Jiangsu across provinces and later became the director of the Jiangsu Provincial Public Security Department (until 2017).
In November 2015, Wang Like took up the post of member of the Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee and secretary of the Political and Legal Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, and voluntarily surrendered five years later.
Zheng Zhijun noticed that during his work in the political and legal system, Wang Like also had many "highlight moments." For example, he was awarded the honorary title of First Class Heroic Model of the National Public Security System.
In addition, Wang Like also worked with Wang Lijun, former vice mayor of Chongqing (2003-2006). At that time, Wang Lijun served as the director of the Jinzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau, and Wang Like was the deputy director.
According to incomplete statistics from the media, at least 6 officials in Jiangsu's political and legal system fell in 2020, all of whom were subordinates of Wang Like.
During Wang Like's helm of Jiangsu's political and legal system, the inspection team of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee repeatedly pointed out the problems existing in Jiangsu's political and legal system.
For example, from April 27 to June 20, 2020, the Ninth Inspection Group of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee inspected the Party Committee of the Provincial Public Security Department.
The inspection found that there were some problems in the Jiangsu Provincial Public Security Department, including "adhering to the law enforcement system and law enforcement standards are not strict enough, some cadres and policemen even violate the law and bend the law for personal gain" and "the risk prevention and control of key positions in key links such as capital asset management and bidding and procurement is not strict".
For another example, from April 29 to June 20, 2020, the Ninth Inspection Group of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee inspected the Party Group of the Provincial Court.
The inspection found that the Jiangsu Provincial Court "lacked the strategic deployment of implementing the comprehensive and strict management of the party, failed to fulfill the main responsibility, prohibited the spiritual problems of violating the eight central regulations, did not thoroughly rectify the problems of formalism and bureaucracy, and did not provide sufficient leadership and guidance for the construction of party style and clean government and anti-corruption work in the court system."

On June 28 this year, the Sixth Supervision Group of the Central Committee for Education and Rectification of the Political and Legal Contingent gave feedback to Jiangsu on the first batch of education and rectification supervision opinions.
At that time, Qiao Chuanxiu, head of the Sixth Supervision Group of the CENTRAL Committee, mentioned that judging from the supervision situation, there are still some prominent problems and deep-seated problems in the construction of jiangsu's political and legal contingent; the problems of "pseudo-loyalty" and "two-faced people" still need to be highly valued; the problems of insufficient ability and "panic of skill" are still quite obvious; the problems of weak concept of law enforcement and justice for the people still exist objectively; the problems of weak self-discipline and insufficient supervision and restraint cannot be ignored.
Qiao Chuanxiu put forward five opinions and suggestions, the first of which is to "further comprehensively and thoroughly eliminate the poisonous influence of Wang Like, continue to purify the political ecology of the political and legal system, and ensure that the political and legal team is absolutely loyal, absolutely pure, and absolutely reliable."
At a meeting of the Jiangsu Provincial Leading Group for the Education and Rectification of the Political and Legal Contingent on September 7, Fei Gaoyun said that all units should regard the education and rectification of the political and legal contingent as a major political task.
It is necessary to strengthen overall planning and coordination, promote the organic integration of investigation, rectification, and reform with other work, and in particular, we must make overall plans to do a good job in the first batch of "looking back" and the second batch of education and rectification, the solution of the problems of the provincial-level political and legal organs themselves and the common problems of the system and the line, education and rectification, and the key work of political and legal work, so as to achieve "grasping with both hands and promoting two things," and earnestly use the performance of risk prevention, security, stability, and development to test the effectiveness of rectification, rectification, and reform.
