International Olympic Committee: Jovaryeva will not hold an award ceremony in the top three of the women's single skating row at the Winter Olympics

The IOC's official website released a statement on February 14 saying that the IOC Executive Committee noted the decision of the International Court of Arbitration for Sport to allow Russian figure skater Camilla Vallieva to continue to participate in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

The IOC must follow the rules and therefore must allow Valieva to compete in the women's singles event on Feb. 15, the statement said.

The IOC said it would not be appropriate to hold an award ceremony for figure skating team events during the Beijing Winter Olympics for fairness to all athletes and the national Olympic committees concerned, as it would include an athlete who tested positive for A and whose violations of anti-doping rules had not yet been confirmed. The statement said that if Vallieva finished in the top three in the women's single skating competition, there would be no flower ceremony and award ceremony.

The International Court of Arbitration for Sport announced at 14:00 Beijing time on February 14 that the court rejected the appeal of the International Olympic Committee, the World Anti-Doping Agency and the International Skating Union against the Russian figure skater Camilla Vallieva. Vallieva was allowed to compete in individual competitions at the Winter Olympics.
