BEIJING, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- The "Meet in Beijing" Olympic Cultural Festival and the 22nd "Meet in Beijing" International Arts Festival Beijing Cultural Week opened on February 11. During the Cultural Week, more than 100 urban cultural square activities distributed in various districts of Beijing were carried out simultaneously, showing the unique charm of Beijing, an ancient city.

The theme party of the opening ceremony began with "Chasing Dreams" and opened with the song of "Winter Olympics We Embrace You" to express the public's yearning for the Winter Olympics. Wang Hong, vice mayor of Beijing, said that the Beijing Cultural Week held during the Beijing Winter Olympics is to take this as an opportunity to attract more cultural and tourism resources to participate in the development of the ice and snow culture market, combine sportsmanship with China's excellent traditional culture, show the cultural connotation of the Winter Olympics, and promote the high-quality development of the "Winter Olympics +" concept.

In the interactive exhibition area of intangible cultural heritage set up at the opening ceremony, traditional skills such as buckle making, movable type printing and woodblock New Year paintings, Beijing clay man Zhang, and old Beijing juggling attracted the audience to experience. Hu Ling, the fourth-generation inheritor of the buckle making technology, told reporters that the team designed the snowflake-themed Winter Olympics two years ago. Some of them are displayed in public cultural activities, and some of them go into communities and schools to promote them.

"Not limited to traditional buttons, disc buckles can also be made into ornaments, earrings, brooches and so on. Chinese often talk about the 'Ruixue Mega Year', hoping to pass on the blessings of the Winter Olympics with snowflake disc buckles. Hu Ling mentioned that in order to promote the skill of disc buckle to tourists around the world, the team also installed a "business card" with Chinese and English commentary on the back of the gift box.
