From "Sheep" to the Torchbearer of the Winter Olympics, this Yanqing boy "flew" because of ice and snow

"In 2015, I was holding a sheep herding whip in my hand; 7 years later, in 2022, I held the Winter Olympic torch high with my hands, and I was extremely proud! This is all brought about by the Winter Olympics. ”

On February 12, at the 2022 Beijing News Center's "City of The Two Olympics • Kandian" interactive display activity with the theme of "Flying on Ice and Snow", Lang Enge, a 33-year-old Yanqing boy, emotionally told his life story of "flying" because of ice and snow.

The town of Zhangshanying, where Lang En pigeon is located, is the site of the Yanqing race area of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. Before bidding for the Winter Olympics, it was just an ordinary small town in northern Beijing. At that time, Lang En Pigeon was engaged in sheep breeding, and at most the family had more than 300 sheep in captivity, although the income was still good, but it polluted the environment and was not a long-term livelihood.

The bid for the Winter Olympics was successful, and Yanqing made all-out preparations to close the mountains and cultivate forests and protect the ecology. Lang Enge said that he could not add to the green mountains and rivers of the Winter Olympic Town for his own livelihood. In 2015, he sold more than 300 sheep and regained his childhood skills of "skiing".

He practiced with several children at the Vanke Shijinglong Ski Resort near his home.

On July 11, 2017, they established Yanqing's first farmer ski team, and the members are all native farmers. During the snow season, they learn from expert instructors, ski masters from Switzerland and other professionals, and stationed on the snow field to practice their skills.

Since its establishment in 2017, haituo farmers ski team has 66 members, including 33 who have obtained national ski instructor certificates and 10 Swiss national professional ski instructor certificates, becoming the main team of ice and snow sports in Yanqing District. The team members also often go to some primary and secondary schools in Yanqing to teach skiing, and have trained tens of thousands of young and middle-aged farmers, primary and secondary school students and young volunteers in Yanqing.

Contributing to the ice and snow sports in his hometown, Lang En pigeon was elected as the torchbearer of the Winter Olympics, "The moment I got the torchbearer certificate, I was nervous and excited. More determined in my heart, to drive more people to participate in ice and snow sports! ”

On February 3, the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Torch Relay was held at the Yanqing World Grape Expo Park. "Cheer for the Winter Olympics, cheer for the Winter Olympics, and look forward to the future together!" With loud slogans, Lang En Pigeon completed the last torch relay.

Looking to the future, Lang En pigeon's goal is even firmer, "After the Winter Olympics, the Ice and Snow Games are more vigorous. I not only want to continue to work hard to 'bring 300 million people to participate in ice and snow sports', but also lead more peasant brothers to embark on the road of transformation! ”

It's not just lang pigeons that "fly on the snow and ice". In Shijingshan District, the office of the Beijing Winter Olympic Organizing Committee, the students of Power Plant Road Primary School formed the "Little Winter Olympic Organizing Committee", and in the ice and snow training and competition, the children gained skills, achievements, and growth; in Fengtai District, citizens can enjoy the fun of ice and snow nearby through the "Ice and Snow Caravan" activity, and every winter is popular. Guan Xiangqing, the initiator of the "Ice and Snow Caravan" project, said that the caravan activities will be upgraded to meet the diverse fitness needs of the citizens and continue to spread the Olympic spirit.
