Will the skin on your body sparkle? What is this disease?

Glossy moss, listening to this name, probably most people are as confused as Xiaohong, and the skin will also grow moss? Is it as green as a plant moss?

Stop, don't open the brain hole too much, this moss is not a plant moss, and it will not glow on its own like a light bulb. And it looks easy to confuse with acne and prickly heat.

Now, follow Xiaohong to find out what this glossy moss is.

What is Glossy Moss?

Lichen glossy is a chronic inflammatory skin disease. The cause of the disease is unclear and is rare in the clinic.

Why it is called glossy moss is because its surface is covered with a small amount of fine white scales, characterized by some tiny, shiny, pale, consistently morphological papules, compared to the surrounding skin tone, glossy moss looks slightly shiny.

It is more common in children and young adults and generally feels mild itching, but may be more pronounced in patients with a more widespread rash.

Symptoms of lichen gloss?

Lesions mostly present with needle tips, round, miliary-sized rounds, or flat-topped, shiny papules. There are many colors, including normal skin tone, pale white, silvery white, pink or yellowish.

They are generally isolated and dispersed, never fused, and papules rarely exceed 1 to 2 mm.

It may occur on the penis and lower abdomen, inner thighs, forearms, chest, shoulder blades, scrotum and labia. In addition, the generalized glossy moss can spread throughout the body.

Glossy lichen may also have other changes, such as vesicular, hemorrhagic, linear, purple-spotted, and spiny hair follicles.

The course of the disease is slow, and the lesions can remain unchanged for several years, but sometimes they resolve spontaneously or even disappear completely. Familial onset is less common. No scars or pigment abnormalities remain after healing.

Complications that accompany other parts of the body

In rare cases, other parts of the body are affected. If present in the oral cavity, small, grayish-white, flattened papules are seen on the oral mucosa and hard palate.

When the metatarsals (i.e., the soles of the soles of the palms of the hands) are involved, multiple, fine, hyperkeratotic papules may be seen, which can fuse into diffuse hyperkeratotic plaques with chapped fissures. Somewhat similar to hyperkeratotic hand eczema and sweaty herpes.

If the nails are involved, they will be accompanied by small nail-like pits and inflammation of the nail folds.

Other types of glossy moss

There is also a variant of glossy moss called actinic glossy lichen. Refers to shiny lichens that are limited to exposed areas such as the back of the hand, neck, and the radial side of the arm (the inside of the upper arm).

The disease can occur in black people, has been reported in the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent, and often occurs in the summer. Also known as punctuated, papular polymorphic solar eruptions or formerly known as summer actinated lichenoid rashes.

What are the treatments?

Lichen glossy is usually asymptomatic and generally does not require treatment. If the course of the disease is long-lasting and the itching is more pronounced, topical glucocorticoids or topical calcineurin inhibitors may be used to suppress the itching. Oral tretinoins (etretid and avi A) also have an effect.

Narrow-wave ultraviolet and photochemotherapy can also be used in patients with a more extensive and symptomatic rash.

This issue of the glossy moss science is here, if you still want to understand some strange, or unpopular diseases, the old rules, leave a message to tell Xiaohong, consider arranging a wave ~
