In September 1952, the construction of the Automobile Repair Factory of the Public Security Department of Yunnan Province began, located in Chengxing Street, Kunming. In 1954, it was changed to the local state-owned Kunming Machinery and Automobile Repair Factory, in 1955 the wooden factory affiliated to the Provincial Public Security Department was merged into and moved to the Eastern Suburbs Jinma Temple, in 1957 it belonged to the Kunming Municipal Public Security Bureau and renamed Kunming Jianxin General Machinery Factory, in 1959 it was renamed the local state-owned Jinma Mining Machinery Factory in Yunnan Province, and in 1972 it was renamed Kunming Tractor Factory. In 1969, the company successfully trial-produced 175 and 190 diesel engines, and developed Kunming-40 tractors and supporting 495 diesel engines, and in 1974, the engine was transferred to Yunnan Internal Combustion Engine Factory for specialized production. In 1985, the company added the brand of Jinma Mining Machinery Factory, and the production of large and medium-sized tractors was basically stopped in Kunming.

In August 1984, with the consent of the Ministry of Machinery Industry of the People's Republic of China, Kunming Tractor Factory increased the manufacturing business of agricultural transport vehicles, and was approved to produce Kunming brand KM122 agricultural transport vehicles at designated points, and later formed product serialization and batch production capacity, forming 24 horsepower, 29 horsepower, 36 horsepower, 50 horsepower and a variety of variants, and won the third prize of Yunnan Provincial Science and Technology Award. Based on this enterprise, it has also developed the Jinma brand JM122 light truck, with an outer dimension of 4.45 × 176 × 2.2 meters, a wheelbase of 2.4 meters, a GVW = 3245 kg, a curb weight of 1.8 tons, equipped with a 2.54L and 62 horsepower diesel engine of Chengdu Internal Combustion Engine General Plant, with a maximum speed of 76km/h. The product was called KT1030 light truck after 1989, priced at 22,300 yuan / car in 1991, produced 1520 vehicles that year, and then optimized the cab and engine, and continued to produce until the end of the century, with annual sales hovering in hundreds to more than 1,000 vehicles.

In the mid-1990s, the agricultural vehicle business of Kunming Tractor Factory gradually prospered, and the company was renamed Yunnan Jinma Agricultural Vehicle Manufacturing General Factory, and obtained two catalog licenses for low-speed trucks and No. 106 of the automobile industry management, producing JM series low-speed trucks and Jinma brand and KT series automobile products. After the new century announcement period, the factory also had a small number of product declarations, such as: KT3041 dump truck of the 119th batch of the NDRC in April 2006, and JM5820 low-speed truck of the 136th batch of the NDRC in January 2007. However, with the structural reform and the shift of business focus, the company took the initiative to withdraw from the capital-intensive, high-input, high-output auto and agricultural vehicle field, and officially declared bankruptcy in September 2007, and the "Golden Horse" trucks and agricultural vehicles that were once popular in the southwest region have also become history.

In June 2004, Chongqing Lifan Group and Dali Junma Industry and Trade Group jointly established Yunnan Lifan Junma Vehicle Co., Ltd. The company previously mainly produced Nongyou brand tractors and revitalization brand agricultural vehicles, and after the joint venture, the production capacity of Lifan brand trucks and motorcycles was added, and as a "bridgehead" for Lifan's exports to ASEAN countries, it has also become an important puzzle for Lifan to build cars.

In June 2008, the 167th batch of the National Development and Reform Commission changed the Yunnan Jinma Agricultural Vehicle Manufacturing Factory to Yunnan Lifan Junma Vehicle Co., Ltd., the enterprise address was changed to Dali Fengyi Town Industrial Zone, the legal person was changed to Ma Weiliang, and the enterprise code was changed to LFJ. At this point, Lifan Junma officially inherited the two catalog license plates of low-speed truck No. 95 and vehicle class No. 106 through mergers and acquisitions. In August 2009, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology batch 193, in order to fill the gap of no medium and heavy truck production enterprises in Guizhou Province, Lifan Junma set up a non-independent legal person branch Bijie Junma Revitalization Manufacturing Plant, the first phase of the address selected in Yingjiao Village, Yachi Town, Bijie City, Guizhou Province, the second phase of The Bijie City Xiaoba Town Zhongtun Village and Shuitang Village (juer roadside), thus realizing the cross-regional operation of multi-point layout.

After obtaining the production qualification of automobiles and low-speed trucks, Lifan Junma launched the Lifan brand trademark and used Lifan's influence in the southwest region and ASEAN region to quickly achieve market breakthroughs. In 2016, Lifan Junma launched the Shijun brand registered trademark and designed two different patterns and fonts for cars and low-speed trucks. Since 2011, the company has launched a multi-brand strategy, and has registered the Goole, Scat and Kaivoda brands, but it has not achieved the expected effect, but confused the original clear image. In view of this, on December 24, 2014, Lifan Junma officially launched the "Platinum Jun PROJEN" for the high-end market and the "Shijun SOJEN" dual brand strategy for the low-end market until today.

Interestingly, Lifan Horse's Platinum Horse brand uses a horse's head as a graphic logo, and the design is inspired by the Sharma that can pull five tons of cargo, and its concise lines are similar to those of Borreton, a new energy company that specializes in electric heavy trucks. Unfortunately, Lifan Junma has not yet obtained the production qualification of new energy vehicles, which is quite out of place in this era of electric wave. In addition, the actual operation of Lifan Junma has also encountered difficulties, Bijie Branch has fallen into a shutdown crisis, and Lifan Automobile business has also been managed by Geely.
