Li Gang, male, born in 1926, from Fuzhou, Fujian Province. In 1944, he entered the Mechanical Engineering Department of Southwest United University, graduated from Tsinghua University in 1948, and later devoted himself to the revolution. He successively served as the deputy director and fourth director of FAW Technology, the first general manager and the second chairman of China Automobile Industry Corporation.

In 1952, Li Gang was sent to the Soviet Union to prepare for the construction of the first automobile factory in New China. During the work, Li Gang, Meng Shaonong, Chen Zutao and others participated in the approval of the overall design of the Soviet Union aided by FAW on behalf of the Chinese government, responsible for supervising and tracking the design process of the Soviet side, ensuring the progress of FAW's construction and the smooth communication between the two countries.

At the end of 1954, Li Gang finished his work in the Soviet Union, worked in FAW for 29 years, and successively participated in the research and development of various engines such as Jiefang brand engine improvement, Hongqi sedan and rotor piston.

Around 1960, Li Gang led the PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION OF TECHNICAL TRANSFORMATION AND PLANT EXPANSION OF FAW PLANTs for many times, and the annual production capacity of the plant increased from 30,000 to 60,000 vehicles, making outstanding contributions to the change of FAW's production pattern. In addition, Li Gang also went all out to promote the transformation of jiefang trucks and started the second entrepreneurial process of FAW.

In 1982, China National Automobile Industry Corporation was established, and Li Gang served as the general manager and chairman of China Automobile Industry Corporation. In order to solve the situation of "dirty and chaotic" in the automobile industry at that time, Li Gang took the backbone enterprises as the leader and established six associated companies, which opened a new journey for the reform of the system, and the associated companies also completed the transformation from competition to cooperation, and the relationship between enterprises and enterprises was re-straightened out.

Li Gang has been deeply involved in the automotive industry for decades, and has always been committed to promoting the upward development of independent brand business, as early as the 90s of the last century, Li Gang proposed that while introducing foreign models, we must promote independent development. In the process of the transformation of car companies from "open dependence" to "open and autonomous", as well as the issue of independent development of car products, Li Gang has been running for this.
