Box Punishment: Mongolia's special punishment for handling women who steal love!

This photograph was taken by the French photographer Kahn in July 1913, where a woman is packed into a wooden box that is sealed by chains but leaves a vent for the woman. A woman can ask passers-by for water and food, but basically no passers-by will find a way to rescue her.

Puzzled, Kahn approached the locals to inquire and learned that the women in this case were caught stealing with others, and the traditional local punishment was to put the misdeed women into a special box and discard them in the wilderness to fend for themselves, so that the women died in despair. Passers-by will be given a certain amount of water to drink and food, but this can only prolong the woman's despair, and does not guarantee her survival.

In the end, Because Ofekarne respected local customs and traditions, it was more likely that he had no way to challenge local laws, so he could only leave this photo. He then published the photo in National Geographic, but the authenticity of the story has always been questioned, but the photo is real.
