In 1947, when Yi Shijuan fled from her hometown of Yancheng to Shanghai, she was living in the attic of a relative's shack, and the room was so low that people could not lift their heads. Breathing is often the inexhaustible oil smoke from people's cooking. Couldn't sleep at all at night.
After arriving in Shanghai, Yi Shijuan entered the Second Cotton Textile Factory of China Textile Construction Company. Early in the morning, the contractor scolded incessantly, and the workers had no dignity. The factories of the old society were very hard, the machines were constant, they didn't have enough to eat, and it was difficult to even drink a sip of water. Before liberation, there were eight people in the family, the father died at the age of forty because he accidentally ate incense ash, and his mother could not work because he tied his small feet, and the burden of the whole family was on Yi Shijuan alone. All she could think about was how to survive. The harsh environment makes Jia Shijuan, who has been suffering in the countryside since childhood, also feel that "life is too hard, and there is no point in living." ”

Turn over and be the master
In 1949, after the liberation of Shanghai, the party representatives in the factory found Shi Shijuan to talk, encouraged her to strive to be the "master of new China", and asked her to continue to study technology and contribute to the development of the country. "At that time, I felt that the Communist Party had more kindness to me than my mother." Yi Shijuan said in an interview with The Paper last April.
"No one talked to me before, there was a bit of culture after liberation, someone cared about me, I was very happy, and later I could go to a meeting." Zi Shi Juan went to say. In the factory, she found her own value, and joined the Communist Youth League in 1951, joining the Communist Party at the end of the year, and she was the first in the textile group to join the party. The party gave her new strength, and she also worked hard to repay the party's kindness, "I am not a cadre, just a worker, and it is actually my turn to live in a bungalow." Therefore, I think I must do a good job in production and care about the masses. As a party member, I was elected as a model worker, and I felt that I could do better. Yi Shijuan once recalled the production work of that year.
As a party member, Yi Shijuan took the initiative to do work for the group members and united the group members. Under her influence, ten of the thirty members of their group joined the Communist Party, ten people joined the Communist Youth League, under the influence of collective consciousness, the group was well united, the political force was strong, the production capacity was greatly improved, and the national production plan could be completed on time every month, and was rated as the "National Textile Model Group", and because of the leading role of Shi Shijuan herself, in 1953, she herself was rated as the national textile industry labor model.
