More than half of the orders for military vehicles, hydrogen trucks are under development, and Taitala 2021 annual review and future outlook

At the end of 2021, teteira in the Czech Republic held an open day to summarize the company's operations and look forward to the future of tatra. For the "free faction" outside the seven mainstream brands, Taitra and Finnish Sisu have survived with unique advantages, but this also makes Taitra's volume smaller and more vulnerable than the seven giants.

First, there is the sales of Tetara in 2021. For the full year of 2021, Taitala built and sold a total of 1,277 trucks, 57 more than the pre-set target of 1,220 trucks, and many more than in 2020, which was hit by the epidemic. Of the 1,277 trucks, 40 percent were delivered to civilian customers in the Czech Republic, or about 510. 10% of the trucks were delivered to the emergency department to modify rescue vehicles such as fire trucks. The remaining 50 percent is fully delivered to military customers.

The civilian market is still one of the focuses of Taitala's operations, but orders have shown a trend of tilting towards military products year by year. After all, Europe's road network is so well developed that in most cases strong off-road performance is not required. Drivers also want a large cab and a comfortable ride. In September 2021, Tathola celebrated the 10th anniversary of its Phoenix series of models, the most advanced trucks Tetra has to offer in the new era. It is equipped with a CF series cab from DUF and a PACCAR MX engine, and has developed the Phoenix "Phoenix" model in deep cooperation with the Pica Group.

So far, the Phoenix series has delivered more than 3650 vehicles, and ten years have made it quite old. Many companies, such as PACCAR's DUF, have completed the replacement of the new generation of products, and whether Taitella will develop a successor to the Phoenix "Phoenix" series of trucks with the help of the new generation of PACCAR Group's product architecture remains to be discussed.

In order to cope with the goals and needs of new energy in the new era, Taitala has begun to develop hydrogen-powered trucks based on the Force series of models. The Force series models focus primarily on military and civilian needs in extreme environments, with a unique frame design that makes it easier to adapt hydrogen-fueled trucks. Tetra has collaborated with czech universities and research institutes to develop a hydrogen fuel model, which will be mainly used in the underground mining sector. Due to the scarcity of air inside the pit, emissions from the internal combustion engine pollute the already precious air. Coupled with the fact that there are many mountains and mines in the Czech Republic, such a decision is also a matter of course. After the Force series hydrogen fuel trucks are put into operational testing, Tetara will roll them out to other markets as appropriate.

In addition to the core Eastern European market, in 2021, Tetra is also launching a large-scale invasion of the Western European market. Western Europe's road network is more developed than Eastern Europe's, the infrastructure is excellent, and there is no need for trucks with too strong off-road performance. Tatra has targeted the emergency vehicle market, working with companies such as Ziegler and Luxenbauer to sell Taetlar chassis modified fire trucks to Western European countries. The Bundeswehr ordered 76 fire trucks based on the Taetella Force chassis, which will be completed by Russenbauer. The Netherlands has also ordered a Ziegler fire truck based on the Phoenix 6x6 chassis, which uses an additional Volvo Penta engine to power the high-performance water pump, which will be used in the airport fire department of the Dutch army in the future.

The military market has gradually climbed in the share of sales in Tethella, reaching 50% in 2021, which is more than half of the total orders. This trend stems from the replacement of old military vehicles in Europe, military trucks such as the MANKAT 1 and SX that have been in service for a long time are seriously aging, while the new generation of HX models provided by Rheinmetall Mann is more expensive, and the off-road performance is not as good as the full-swing half-shaft structure of too pull-out. As a result, Taitra won many orders for military vehicles.

For example, Belgium recently ordered 879 DUF CF series military trucks from DUF, including 636 4x4 models and 243 8x8 models. The chassis for these trucks will all be supplied by Tethella and the cabs will be produced at the duff plant in Belgium. The first trucks will be delivered this year and in 2025, bringing orders of 200 units per year to Taitala.

In addition to vehicle manufacturing, Tathra has also achieved great success in the field of parts manufacturing, and oil tycoons from the Middle East have thrown an olive branch for Tathella. Taitella has established new plants in saudi arabia and Qatar to send Czech-origin parts to the factory for assembly through CKD to meet the booming demand for highly maneuverable off-road vehicles in the Middle East. There are many deserts in the Middle East, and the undulating dunes require tires to cling to the ground, and the unique structure of the full swing half shaft of Tettla meets this demand. In addition, Taitla opened a new factory in the Czech Republic to meet NATO's military vehicle orders.

According to Tetla's forecast, this order situation will continue in 2022, and even grow slightly. Although the civilian market is shrinking, Taitala has also achieved good success in the military market with its unique mechanical structure advantages. Thank you for reading this article!
