In "Five Rings of Ice and Snow", 24 lasers shoot at the ice cube, carving history on the huge ice cube, from the previous Winter Olympics to the Beijing Winter Olympics, in the change of light and shadow, the world seems to travel through time and space... Talking about the process from creativity to landing, Song Yuefeng, creative director of Nuclear Octopus Studio, opened the conversation box. "We tried a lot of brain-opening solutions inside ice cube. In fact, at the beginning, it was very far away from the ink humanoid, and the post-production director hoped to put it in the way of the ink humanoid. After that, we repeatedly explored what kind of ink humanoid it was and how it appeared in an ice cube. ”
In order to be able to present the best to the world, the team was on standby until the last moment before the opening ceremony. Song Yuefeng said: "Snowflake Convergence is the link where we are fully responsible for landing and production. Director Huang Chen is still in Beijing, he has experienced the next four months of the row and so on, which has been changed until the early morning of the 2nd, two days before the performance, so the whole process is very difficult. And I think, whether it's the director or the team, everyone is willing to give the best thing and race against time. ”
Sun Chaoping, who is mainly responsible for the design and drawing of "Build a Snowflake", told reporters that the most difficult thing is how to achieve a pure and flawless texture on the world's largest LED screen. "In the painting of snowflakes, the director's requirement is that he should be very bright and transparent. At the same time, it (snowflakes) should be very sharp on the field, that is, the edges and corners should be very clear. Then I'm trying to draw it as much as possible. There may be more than 400 process drafts and renderings in "Building a Snowflake". Different angles, different luminous sensations, there are more than 400 shots before and after. ”
In order to better simulate the effect of real ice cubes, the team opened their minds and made a lot of interesting attempts. Sun Chaoping said: "We wanted to make it ourselves at the beginning, but there will inevitably be cracks in the ice, there will be bubbles. But then someone on our team found out that there were clean ice cubes specially made in the bar. We immediately contacted them and made a 1 meter by 50 centimeters high, the same proportion as the ice cube. Then we light it ourselves, superimpose various ink effects in the back, observe the real situation, and then draw it, which is also very interesting. ”
Recalling the opportunity and process of participating in the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games, Sun Chaoping said that the word "confidentiality" is the key word in this half year. "[Last year] two directors called me and another main beauty to the conference room, which was very mysterious. At that time, it was said that a big task should be done, and its degree of secrecy was not even said by the family. Our group name is 'Five Great Circles' to hide our eyes. In the discussions between our group members, about our design elements, such as snowflakes, ice cubes, or, like other proposals before, the water of the Yellow River, we have to replace them with some code name or abbreviation, so we are also working like agents. ”
