Indonesia has seen a surge in new virus cases and increased pressure on the healthcare system

Zubari, head of the working group of the Indonesian Doctors Association, assessed that the surge in cases caused by Omilon has begun to threaten many health workers. In addition, the demand for hospitalization of COVID-19 patients continues to increase.

In a tweet on his personal Twitter post yesterday, he explained that the wave is starting to threaten health workers in hospitals and affect health services if there are many infected people.

He said it could be a serious problem, as happened in England. I hope it doesn't happen.

To prevent something similar from happening, the government has actually urged residents or milder symptoms of COVID-19 people to quarantine at home. Only people with severe symptoms of COVID-19 can be admitted to hospital.

If self-isolation is not allowed in the premises or home, patients can receive centralized isolation treatment even if the symptoms are mild.

This ban is entirely to avoid the burden on medical institutions in order to focus on patients with severe symptoms. Pan Du, an epidemiologist at the School of Public Health (FKM UI) at the University of Indonesia, said the strategy also reduced the burden on health workers.

"We must love health workers so they don't get infected so that health services can continue, not only for severe COVID-19 but also for other diseases," Pan said.
