On February 9, the short track speed skating event of the Beijing Winter Olympics ushered in the third competition day, and in the just-concluded men's 1500m quarterfinals and women's 1000m preliminaries, the athletes competed fiercely, setting new Olympic records.

In the men's 1500m quarterfinals, the hungarian athlete Liu Shaolin, who appeared in the first group, broke the Olympic record of 2 minutes 10.485 seconds set by Lin Xiaojun at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics with a time of 2:09.213.
In the women's 1000m semifinals that followed, in the first group of matches, South Korean athlete Choi Min-jin broke the Olympic record of 1:28.771 set by Canadian athlete Martes Valari at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi with a time of 1:28.053. However, Cui Minjing's Olympic record was refreshed again after not long, and then the Dutch star Suzanne Shulting came out of the second group and won the first place with a time of 1:27.292, breaking the Olympic record that Cui Minjing had just broken. Within 5 minutes, the Olympic records were set one after another. It is worth mentioning that Han Yutong, a Chinese player who played in the same group, followed Schulting in the second place in the group with 1:27.401, which was also higher than the first place in the first group.
It remains to be seen if there will be a new Olympic record in the short track speed skating arena tonight!
