In 2005, he transferred to China Oriental Performing Arts Group, creating dozens of excellent stage plays and large-scale evening shows such as "Jiangshan Beauty", "Marco Polo", dance poetry and painting "National Color", dance music "Chinese Story • Zodiac", etc. His artistic creations have won many national awards such as national art masterpieces, "Five Ones Project", Wenhua Director Award, Wenhua Award, and many other national awards. He is Shen Chen, national director, artistic director of China Oriental Performing Arts Group, and a representative figure of the Chinese art world.
On February 4, the opening ceremony of the Beijing Winter Olympics was successfully held, and Shen Chen participated as the core creator of the Winter Olympics cultural performance and the Olympic torchbearer.
At the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics, director Shen Chen made certain innovations in content and techniques, integrating literary and artistic performances with ceremonial links, conveying the romantic sense of ice and snow crystal clear, and presenting the beauty of nature, humanities and sports. In addition, Shen Chen also carried out forward-looking exploration in technology, using the interdisciplinary "Digital Performance and Simulation Technology" co-founded by him and Beijing Institute of Technology during the 29th Beijing Olympic Games in 2008 to improve the choreography efficiency of literary and artistic performances with digital performances and intelligent creativity. When the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics was still in the stage of synthesis and rehearsal, Shen Chen said that he would definitely present a warm and touching new performance with rich cultural connotations to the audience.
In 2008, Shen Chen served as the director and executive director of the next choreography studio for the opening ceremony of the 29th Olympic Games in Beijing, leading 35 outstanding choreographers across the country to complete the world-renowned chapters such as "Starlight Bird's Nest", "Taiji Nature", "Earth Running" and "Holy Flame Ignition", showing the world the breadth and depth of Chinese culture. Although Shen Chen's experience in directing the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games has allowed Shen Chen to accumulate rich experience, he said that every creation is started from scratch.
Since then, Shen Chen has always fought on the road of literary and artistic creation. He participated in directing many important activities such as celebrating the return of Hong Kong and celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and served as the deputy director and dance director of CCTV's Spring Festival Gala and Lantern Festival for four consecutive years. In 2021, Shen Chen participated in directing the large-scale sitcom "The Great Journey" celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, and led the China Oriental Performing Arts Group to launch the dance drama "Only This Green", which moved the Forbidden City's "A Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains" to the stage.
Shen Chen recalled that less than two months after the official performance of "The Great Journey", the large props of the steel frame structure of the program "Battle Flag Is Picturesque" leaked the stage, how much time it took to make up for the stage, whether the idea of using a large steel frame structure to show the momentum could be established, and whether it needed to be reimagined in a short period of time, it became unknown in an instant. Shen Chen, who was on a business trip in the field, immediately returned to Beijing, and after many communications with engineers, weighed and reduced weight day and night one steel beam after another, and finally built a new structure in a week, passed the safety test, and presented a fine art for the people of the whole country.
In Shen Chen's directing career, there are countless difficulties like this, but he can always be able to solve the crisis and solve them one by one. This stems not only from his experience in directing numerous events, but also from the result of decades of honing himself.
The dance poetry drama "Only This Green" completed the first round of national tour in 2021 and successfully appeared on the Spring Festival Gala stage of the Year of the Tiger. The dancers' emotional interpretation of the creator's heart touched the heartstrings of countless audiences. And such a staggering of ancient and modern, even a ticket in the theater is difficult to find.
"With the progress and development of society, literary and artistic creation has also evolved into the depiction of human stories, the description of human scenes, the description of people's different lives in different eras, and with it the characters of these stories are more prominent. Creators will also realize that in their creation, they must talk about humanistic views, world views, and inner patterns. Shen Chen said that on the road of artistic creation, it will always maintain a state of re-departure, and in the future, it will continue to focus on the creation of stage works and dedicate the people with artistic masterpieces.
