The man diagnosed with throat cancer could not go home for the New Year, and the nurse sent him dumplings to relieve his inner loneliness

Mr. Wu is 51 years old, from Macheng, and has been working in Han. Half a year ago, his voice appeared hoarse, thinking that it was caused by a cold, he did not care too much, until there was a sore throat, a foreign body feeling, and he did not get better after taking cold medicine, so he came to the Otolaryngology Department of Wuhan Wuchang Hospital on January 20 for treatment.

Feng Dai, the attending physician who received the consultation, found through electronic laryngoscopy that Mr. Wu's vocal cords were red, swollen, bloody, and there was a new organism the size of a mung bean in the larynx. Feng Dai took the new organism from Mr. Wu's throat for biopsy, and finally judged that Mr. Wu had laryngeal cancer.

"What can I do, I can't go home for the New Year, I can only be in the hospital." Mr. Wu was very upset. On January 26, Director Xiong Jingpeng personally took the lead and worked with the department doctors to perform "vertical hemi-laryngectomy + laryngeal reconstruction and tracheostomy" for Mr. Wu, which lasted 2 hours before it was completed. "Since Mr. Wu's laryngeal invasion part is too large, in order to make a sound later, we only removed the vertical part of his left side of the throat, leaving the right half of the throat." Xiong Jingpeng said.

On February 3, Mr. Wu had removed his endotracheal tube and could eat something, worried that he would feel lonely during the festival, the medical staff of the Department of Otolaryngology arranged hot dumplings for him and wished him a happy holiday. After receiving the dumplings, Mr. Wu's happiness overflowed into words.
