Starting this week, Apple Music offers shorter one-month free trial periods to first-time subscribers in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Japan, and other countries. Japanese blog Mac Otakara first spotted the change.

Apple Music's pricing remains the same, and after a one-month trial period, the individual plan in the U.S. is $9.99 per month.

For comparison, rival Spotify's streaming music service typically offers a one-month free trial for its premium version, but it currently offers a two-month trial period in the U.S. and some other countries as a limited-time promotion. Spotify also offers a three-month free trial to first-time users who sign up through PayPal.

Apple Music continues to offer customers who purchase eligible AirPods, Beats, or HomePod models for a free six-month trial for a limited period of time.
