Teachers and students of the Sculpture Department of the School of Design and Art of the Northern University for Nationalities have an indissoluble relationship with ice and snow art. In 2013, teachers and students of the Department of Sculpture participated in the Fifth International University Student Snow Sculpture Competition, which was also the first time that universities in Ningxia participated in this international competition. The International Student Snow Sculpture Competition is a mass competition for international college students co-sponsored by the Organizing Committee of the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival in China and the Teaching Steering Committee of the Industrial Design Major of the Ministry of Education, and hosted by Harbin Engineering University. Aiming to promote the development and dissemination of snow sculpture art, enrich and develop the ice and snow culture of the mainland, it is the world's largest snow sculpture competition for college students.
