Van Bronckhorst recalls Rijkaard's locker room policy: Ronald Jr. enjoys special treatment as a coach

In an interview with Voetbal International on Feb. 3, Van Bronckhorst recalls when Frank Rijkaard was in charge of Barca.

Van Bronckhorst said Ronaldinho was the best player he's ever worked with and said the Brazilian is special, both on and off the pitch, and teammates and coaches know it. He said: "Rijkaard is a master of player management. Ronaldinho has done nothing this week, wearing a basketball shirt, sunglasses and havana flip-flops on his feet during afternoon training. You can also see the sand inside. ”

Dutchman Van Bronckhorst played 153 games under compatriot Rijkaard. At the time, Ronaldinho was the "king" of Barca, and as such, he enjoyed special treatment as a coach. Van Bronckhorst: "Rijkaard said 'leave him alone' (Ronaldo jr. was treated by a masseuse while training with other Barca players) and when we got back to the dressing room, Ronnie was still lying on the massage table. But a few days later, he played against Real Madrid. Rijkaard told me, 'I'm not going to demand the same standards from you.'"

Van Bronckhorst added: "As a coach, I'm very much like both of them," referring to Rijkaard and Hiddink. Also from Tenkart, Van Bronckhorst knows how to make the players feel good: "In these ways, to make the players more confident, I keep all these little things. Some trivial things can lead to huge results. As a coach, you should be able to feel it. ”
