Bottas received a farewell gift from Meben – the W08 car

The Finn left Mercedes five years later and the team decided it was time for George Russell to join after three seasons on loan with Williams.

The 32-year-old driver is the best team driver for The Mercedes team, helping the team set a 100% constructors' championship record during his time at Mercedes and supporting teammate Lewis Hamilton to achieve four crowns in five years. During his time with the team, he won a total of 10 races. At the end of 2021, when Bottas was leaving, Mercedes gave a special gift – Bottas' W08 car when he won F1 for the first time at the 2017 Russian Grand Prix.

Bottas said on the web show: "It was a little surprise, a great gift, and now I just don't have a place to put it. I was shocked to see what kind of farewell events they had organized for me – parades, fireworks and music – and I realized that they were also grateful for everything I had done for the convoy. ”

On the show, Bottas also said that if Hamilton had not missed a record-breaking eighth world title in Abu Dhabi's controversial final lap, he would have left Mercedes with a handsome sum of money and gifts.

"Certain bonuses are associated with certain achievements," he said. Luckily, I didn't overdraft the money in advance. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't. Of course, I didn't really care about it, and at some point, I didn't have to look at my bank balance anymore. The money is part of F1 but I remember where I came from, so I'm in a good state of mind. ”
