On January 29, the reporter learned from the 703 Institute of the First Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Group Co., Ltd., which led the design and development of the first domestic snowmobile, that the newly developed domestic second-generation snowmobile has been delivered to the Winter Sports Center of the State General Administration of Sport. It is worth mentioning that this snowmobile uses new aerospace technology.

Zhou Yudao, senior engineer and project manager of the 703 Institute, said that in order to make the "ice F1" high-speed Mercedes-Benz, the materials used in the snowmobile body require light weight and high strength, and such materials are also widely used in the aerospace field, so the materials for manufacturing snowmobiles aim at carbon fiber composite materials, which are the first new materials to be applied and developed in the aerospace field, and use high-strength grade domestic TG800 aerospace-grade carbon fiber composites.

With the efforts of the team, in January 2021, the domestic generation of snowmobiles took shape and achieved a breakthrough of zero. In order to further improve the performance of the snowmobile, China Aerospace Science and Technology Group and FAW Group jointly developed and launched a domestic second-generation snowmobile in September 2021. According to the test, the wind resistance of the domestic second-generation snowmobile is more than 5% lower than that of the national team models, and it is estimated that the performance can be improved by 0.3 seconds to 0.5 seconds.

At present, the snowmobile has been delivered to the National Winter Sports Center. Due to the need to complete a number of certifications before the snowmobile participates, the second-generation snowmobile may not be able to board the field of the Winter Olympic Games, but it is of great significance for the realization of autonomous control of high-end ice and snow equipment in the mainland.
