Snowmobiling is a sport that originated in Switzerland. In 1924, the snowmobile race was officially included in the winter Olympic games, and it has a history of nearly 100 years.
In many Winter Olympic events, snowmobile racing is one of the most ornamental and extremely difficult sports, and the technical requirements for athletes and the requirements for sports tools are also very high, because many of the materials required for manufacturing have reached aerospace standards.
According to the statistics of overseas SB Nation, the cost of a snowmobile is generally at least 50,000 US dollars, and the price is generally 100,000 US dollars, which is converted into 700,000 yuan.
In contrast, the mainland's snowmobile project started particularly late, and it was not until 2016 that the mainland established a formal snowmobile national team. In the past few years, all the snowmobile equipment on the mainland should be imported from abroad, or directly rent equipment abroad, and athlete training is also to find venues abroad.
However, it is not a way to rely on foreign-produced snowmobiles, and the price of snowmobiles is expensive. Even if the price is not mentioned, the date of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics has been set, as the host country, it is imperative to overcome the technical difficulties of snowmobile production and realize the localization of snowmobiles.
In 2019, FAW Group and China Aerospace Science and Technology Group jointly took over the burden of developing and producing domestic snowmobiles. From R & D to production, it takes many cumbersome stages such as functional analysis, technical overcoming, research, trial production, production, delivery, etc., but from project establishment to final delivery, the production team only took 2 years and 9 months.
The snowmobile is the most complex and the most demanding equipment among all the ice project equipment. Because when the player glides through the corner in the snowmobile track, the gravity they bear has approached the limit that the human body can withstand, which is equivalent to 5 or 6 times its own gravity. Because of this, the safety and reliability of snowmobiles must reach the highest level to ensure the safety of athletes.
Although the knowledge of snowmobile manufacturing was completely unknown before, the R&D team and the athletes and coaches of the snow team conducted up to 11 interviews to sort out the specific use scenarios of the snowmobile and the unexpected situations that may be encountered from the dialogue. Using this as a material, up to 76 performance and function-related requirements were decomposed, which was fully prepared for subsequent research and development.
In the process of research and development, China FAW and Aerospace Technology have overcome a series of technical problems one after another, mastered more than 20 key areas of technology including body, brake, steering, etc. from continuous practice, and realized the landing transformation in continuous optimization.
This is a race against time, when all the research and development is ready, FAW immediately organized a trial production team, entered the trial production stage, and successfully developed a double and four-person snowmobile.
In January 2021, the mainland successfully produced the domestic snowmobile for the first time, and in September, the materials, process, size and weight of the second generation of snowmobiles reached the international level, so they were delivered. More importantly, the continent has developed the capacity to produce 60 to 100 snowmobiles per year.
On September 10, 2021, China FAW and Aerospace Technology officially delivered these two successful snowmobiles to the General Administration of Sport, and the price of domestic snowmobiles is 30,000 US dollars, equivalent to less than 200,000 yuan, and the price is less than one-third of that of Europe and the United States.
In terms of styling, this domestic snowmobile is very much in line with the Beijing Winter Olympics and Traditional Chinese characteristics. The color matching is a symbol of the traditional Chinese culture of the red and yellow color, the exterior decoration is also designed with a five-star red flag fluttering in the wind, in the silver wrapped track, this brilliant "Chinese red", can lock people's eyes at once.
In the cognition of many people, speed skating, curling, sledding and other ice sports are exclusive to high-latitude countries such as Norway, Finland, and Russia. Although ice sports are not as prominent as ball sports, mainland athletes have not won many gold medals in the past.
At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Yang Yang won the women's 500-meter short track speed skating championship, which was the mainland's first Winter Olympic gold medal, and has since won several world championships.
