Tesla CEO Elon Musk told investors this week that the Optimus humanoid robot is Tesla's most important job this year.

Musk said on a conference call Wednesday that humanoid robots are important to address the U.S. labor shortage and will be used for the first time in Tesla's own factories. Over time, he said, Optimus is expected to become a more important business than the automotive business.
