By the end of 2021, the number of new energy vehicles in Shanghai reached 635,000 units, accounting for 14.33% of the total number of vehicles, and the number of scrap cancellations increased by 252,000 units compared with 2020, an increase of 65.73%. Among them, the number of pure electric vehicles is 321,000, accounting for 50.55% of the total number of new energy vehicles. In 2021, 259,000 new energy vehicles were newly registered in Shanghai, accounting for 42.46% of the total number of newly registered vehicles, an increase of 156,000 units compared with the previous year, an increase of 151.46%. In the past three years, the number of newly registered new energy vehicles has increased from 69,000 in 2019 to 259,000 in 2021, showing a rapid growth trend.

The number of car transfer registrations continues to grow

In 2021, the Shanghai public security traffic management department handled a total of 73,000 motor vehicle transfer registrations. Among them, there were 66,000 automobile transfer registrations, accounting for 90.41%. In the past five years, the ratio of second-hand car transfer registration to the number of new car registrations has risen from 0.67 to 1.07, surpassing the number of new car registrations, and actively promoting the cancellation of policies such as the "relocation restriction" of second-hand cars and the registration of second-hand car off-site transactions, the second-hand car trading market has become increasingly active.

Vehicle and driver's license business was handled online 3.92 million times

In 2021, in order to do a good job in normalizing the prevention and control of the epidemic, the Shanghai public security traffic management department vigorously promoted the online handling of 31 traffic management businesses such as replacing licenses and obtaining licenses. Shanghai handled vehicle and driver's license-related business 1.18 million times online, an increase of 300,000 times over 2020, an increase of 34.09%. Among them, 390,000 exemption signs were issued, accounting for 33.05%; 170,000 driver's licenses and driving licenses were replaced, accounting for 14.41%; 360,000 temporary number plates were issued online, accounting for 30.51%; and 260,000 people, accounting for 22.03%, were carried out online full score examination and education.
