A few days ago, FAW-Volkswagen Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulations in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Administration of the Recall of Defective Automobile Products and the Implementation Measures for the Regulations on the Administration of the Recall of Defective Automobile Products, and has recalled some imported and domestically produced Audi vehicles since February 28, 2022.

1. Recall some domestic Audi Q5L vehicles with production dates from March 1, 2018 to December 4, 2021, for a total of 453791 units.

Vehicles within the scope of this recall may enter the gateway control module because the gateway control module is located in a lower position under the rear seats, and if a large amount of liquid accidentally spills on the rear seat, it may enter the gateway control module, resulting in a short circuit inside the gateway control module, which further causes various internal errors. Gateway control module has a safety design, if an untrusted signal is detected, the engine, gearbox, steering system, etc. will enter the protection mode, at this time the transmission clutch will be disconnected, resulting in power interruption in the vehicle, increasing the possibility of accidents, there are safety hazards.

FAW-Volkswagen AG will entrust an authorized Audi dealer to install a protective cover of the gateway control module free of charge for the vehicles within the scope of the recall to prevent the ingress of liquids and eliminate potential safety hazards.

2. Recall a total of 368 Imported Audi SQ5 vehicles with a production date from April 14, 2021 to December 3, 2021.

Vehicles within the scope of this recall may enter the gateway control module because the gateway control module is located lower under the rear seats, and if a large amount of liquid accidentally spills on the rear seat, it may enter the gateway control module; in addition, some vehicles may also enter the water through the seams with insufficient sealing at the bottom of the body when driving in heavy rain or deep water. The entry of liquid may cause a short circuit inside the gateway control module, which further causes various internal errors. Gateway control module has a safety design, if an untrusted signal is detected, the engine, gearbox, steering system, etc. will enter the protection mode, at this time the transmission clutch will be disconnected, resulting in power interruption in the vehicle, increasing the possibility of accidents, there are safety hazards.

FAW-Volkswagen Will entrust an Authorized Audi dealer to install a protective cover for the gateway control module free of charge for the vehicles within the scope of the recall, and for imported SQ5 vehicles manufactured before August 28, 2021, the dealer will also apply glue seals to the area with insufficient sealing under the body free of charge to prevent liquids from entering and eliminate safety hazards.

The recall was carried out in the context of the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR) initiating a defect investigation. Affected by the investigation, FAW-Volkswagen Co., Ltd. decided to take recall measures to eliminate potential safety hazards.
