On January 26, Beijing time, China successfully launched the "Land Exploration No. 1 Group 01 A star", and the SAR (SAR refers to: synthetic aperture radar) on the star has a high load power, which can be said to be a "big electricity user". To this end, the research and development team pioneered the "dual busbar power package" to escort the satellite's work in orbit.

"The SAR payload and the platform payload are each powered by a separate bus, which is equivalent to providing a 'double package' for the satellite power supply." Liu Yonghui, commander of the A-star power subsystem model of the 811Th Institute of Land Exploration No. 1 Group 01 of the Eighth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, said.

Liu Yonghui introduced that after the satellite successfully enters the operating orbit and the SAR payload is started, the satellite will begin ground mapping work. In order to ensure the mapping coverage, the SAR load will continue to work for about 10 minutes, and the power subsystem needs to meet the transient explosive energy demand; and the all-weather work characteristics of this "big electricity user" also put forward a full range of power demand for the power subsystem.

Lin Wei, chief designer of the A-satellite power subsystem of the 811Thraystem of the Eighth Academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, said that the "package" replaces the traditional single busbar power supply method of satellite power supply, which can not only meet the energy demand of high-power loads for a long time, but also suppress the interference of large pulsation currents on other power-using machines on the satellite when the load is started.

In addition, the in-orbit life of the Land Exploration I Group 01 A star requires a long lifetime. Lin Wei explained that the long life in orbit, the discharge depth of the lithium-ion battery pack will inevitably increase; but the deeper the discharge depth, the shorter the service life of the battery, which is a contradictory proposition.

To this end, the developers have carried out a series of work to improve the rate performance and cycle performance of lithium-ion battery packs, carried out a large number of ground life tests from the aspects of lithium-ion battery discharge depth, discharge rate, cycle cycle, etc., and solved the key technologies such as the long cycle life of lithium-ion batteries under large rate discharge.
